I'd be shocked if that is true..not a single Texas tech fan has come forward to say that what he said-- look this guy followed tech basketball team all over the country- in case you hadn't noticed tech's team is predominately black --I highly doubt he is a racist..if it does come to light that what was said-- it should end right there- Still doesn't excuse smart for pushing a fan..but Smart had the technical called on him--if however he just said something stupid like go back to Oklahoma etc.. then Smart should be severely dealt with not only a suspension for the incident..how would you handle him lying about a racial incident and I should add if it comes to pass that's what Orr said.. then he should be banned from tech games forever

Prejudice is not so black and white, if you'll pardon the phrasing. Everybody forms prejudices about everything. We fill in things we don't know with things we do know (or things we think we know, anyways). What matters is how you treat people. And maybe he's nice to people day-to-day, but if he said something really bad because he was trying to provoke the reaction he got, well, that sucks. He's lucky he only got a little shove. The bottom line is that it's a grown man trash talking a college kid. I may enjoy a certain amount of non-racist trash talking from the student section and young alums, but there comes a time to grow up.

Smat is a pre season 1st team All American. I wasn't impressed with him in the game I saw in Orlando.

3 game suspension for Marcus Smart.
Jeff Orr, the fan, denies he said anything racial, said he called Marcus "a piece of crap", and said he will not attend any more Texas Tech away or home games for the rest of the year.

Smart is a pre season 1st team All American. I wasn't impressed with him in the game I saw in Orlando. Funny, I saw him in Orlando too and thought he was more of a Punk. Also gave me the impression that; "I have to get mine" for the NBA. Didn't think he was great. very good, but not great. Regarding him physically attacking a fan. Verbal assault very rarely justifies Physical assult - if ever. Unfortunate that either occurred but I can't condone physical vigilance over verbal assault. I can understand that people react the way they do, just physical assault will almost always lead to a stiffer punishment than verbal assults. He should have simply been the bigger person and gave him a hug or kiss (oh no sexual assult ). OK, feel free to verbally assult me now.

He apologized for his behavior. Kid is owning up to it. He is a kid, and some guy calls him a "piece of crap" or whatever, he didn't act his best, for sure; I have more hope for his future than that "fan".

I was rooting for the Cowboys over Memphis and their transfer criminal Dixon. I didn't think Smart was a thug, just a kid with a lot of swagger.

If I had to choose between the two to root for I'd definitely take Smart over Dixon. Funny story. An older Memphis fan (older than me - maybe he was in his late 60s early 70s) was touting their transfer. Brushed off his criminal activity as to say he knocked around his girlfriend. He said it almost as if (1) it's ok to knock around your girlfriend if she deserves it or (2) we ignore their out side activities if they're a good basketball player for us. I was shocked at his attitude of Dixon and thought he was great. I guess I was a little harsh of Smart, I can see how one could view it as swagger.

I wish I could extract and implant some swagger in our kids...they're too damn nice! Just kidding!

I wish I could extract and implant some swagger in our kids...they're too damn nice! Just kidding! I think White & Cole have that swagger (or as it was pointed out White had it earlier in the year). We need him to play with swagger but a little more in control driving to the basket. I think he's getting better at driving with a purpose as opposed to the first two games when he was just chucking up the shot only to draw the foul. If he can ever drive & put the ball up like Wright does he'll be deadly. That and getting a consistent jump shot where other teams will need to respect his pull up. Wright has this awesome ability to lay up a difficult shot and it seems to find its way through the hoop, or bounce around and at least has a better shot if going in. That's what I'd like White to get better at (plus the consistency in his jump shot).
