I hope Toole brings Mike Byrnes and then gets a guy with NYC connections. Byrnes was a great prep school coach at Winchendon and has great connections

The question for the next coach is, do they keep Craig Carter?
I hope they do or I feel a majority of players will leave Siena because a familiar face is not around.

There is no way any if these players leave. They are looking for a new leader. The last thing they need is a holdover from the last mess. Sorry CC.

New broom sweeps clean. Carter as nice a guy as he may be was part if the problem. Recruiting and coaching (fundamentals) were awful. If some players choose to leave so be it......

Carter was also a Siena assistant coach under McCaffery before leaving for Rutgers, and at the time was part of the program's turnaround. I wouldn't want him dismissed purely as a symbolic clean sweep, nor would I want him retained purely because he's a nice guy. Hopefully the next coach and the AD can evaluate his contributions to the program objectively.

No holdovers. Especially someone planted by administration who may think that the head coach isn't really his boss.

That's all on Mitch. Carter would often be pulled off recruiting assigments in favor of Tobin Anderson. In terms of coaching, it was always Mitch's way or the highway. Trust me, you want Carter to stay on and be put back as the top assistant. Mitch had demoted him in favor of Anderson. Let me put it to you this way: it's no coincidence that they booted everyone else immediately, while Carter was the lone member of the staff the school retained to run the program in the interim.

It should be totally up to the new coach if Craig stays or not. I don't think you can make an assessment one way or another until the new coach talks with him. But the decision should be completely up to the head coach on his staff. To me it doesn't matter either way - I just want the best possible coaching staff and good chemistry with the staff.

Personally, I would hope the new coach would sit down with Craig and if they think there is a chance he could help the new coach/program then take the chance for one year and then re-evaluate again. If it doesn't seem like it could work the new coach should do everything in his power to help Craig find a soft landing - it is the decent thing to do for a man who (as far as I know) has been nothing but competent and loyal to the school and program.
