Basically said the guy walked by his office without saying hello and that’s when he knew something was wrong then he was told to go see Darg ....and bring your playbook. Was there a playbook??🤔

Geez, I hate getting snooty after only posting for less than a week (but following for years), but if you follow multiple sources of information you wouldn't ask the question you did. You hate to get snooty? Wouldn’t it be easier to answer the question. I don’t follow “multiple” sources. Are these sources located in Syracuse or on the sandy beaches in Florida?

Eventually the title of this thread will be accurate, I guess.

Eventually the title of this thread will be accurate, I guess. That’s what happens when you rely on the Albany press

New president is ALL in on men’s hoop program. Numbers are pretty astonishing based on where program has been recently. He must read the board because a lot of concerns about where the team finances were and how holding back were addressed:
Huge increases in pay pool for assistant coaches, travel budgets, recruiting. Have to remember Carm wasn’t spending any money on the road. He wasn’t having his staff out recruiting. Tbey were watching games online the last few years and not being on the road during the live period. He wasn’t spending money because he wanted to be home with his family hanging by the pool.
President understands where enrollment is projected to go for Colleges, and understands that a solid men’s basketball program can keep the college afloat and moving forward.

Glad to read it is done. I hope Gerry has a nice 4 or 5 year run at Siena. Sounds like Siena will be committing more resources to basketball. And bring on the Bag Man, too, for NIL.

Hopefully Siena was able to negotiate a big buyout if he leaves in the first three years and that Gerry was able to negotiate better salaries for assistants and the ability to not renew scholarships if a player does not live up to expectations.

Hopefully Siena was able to negotiate a reasonable buyout if he's a colossal failure. I certainly don't want that to be the case but our track record isn't great. If we are, indeed, paying GMac a ton of money won't be buying him out if he doesn't live up to the hype. Getting a coach is an investment in the program and the school but we shouldn't be counting on the P5 buyout.

Getting a coach is an investment in the program and the school but we shouldn't be counting on the P5 buyout. There's absolutely zero percent chance that Siena is getting G-Mac without the contract fully guaranteed. If you don't want to offer the guarantee that 300+ other D1 schools are all offering then you are only going to be interviewing D-2 and D-3 coaches along with assistants from other mid and low majors. Now maybe they can get creative and set a lower baseline guarantee like $300k and make it more incentive laden but that means if he's successful they would wind up paying him way more than under a standard contract.
