This is interesting:
While I know there is a brotherhood among coaches, I always find it interesting when an opposing coach comes out in support of a rival coach who is struggling. Tobin has somewhat of a unique perspective having coached at Siena on a staff that also failed miserably and was ultimately fired.

I'm always amazed that they come out with "Carm really wants to win...he's a real competitor"
Well, of course he is. Nobody is insinuating that he's trying to crush the program or is throwing games intentionally. That's not the debate. The debate is whether he can in fact coach and right the ship. Carm has had enough talent on his teams over 4 years to be well over .500 IMO he isn't horrible but even if he's brought back over the next 2 years, we'll be lucky got be over .500 His offense stinks as does his defense. Player development hasn't been shown to-date. If it takes 6 or 7 years to get to the dance with mostly .500 seasons I'm not sure that's what the fans are looking for. Note too that this league is exceedingly weak currently with a bunch of bad coaches. Most should be fired, not just Carm.

Frankly, I don't care what he thinks.

for the most part coaches support other coaches, there are friendships/relationships that develop in that "inner circle" so you understand it................and yet without saying it out loud, some coaches want struggling coaches to stick around, more opportunities to beat them, just saying............

Should you need to tell a coach you have to go out on the recruiting trail? Carm stayed home "for his family"
If Carm's offered a big dollar contract at a P5...he's not staying. Again, he'd do it for his family. Get this delusional nonsense out of your head. We aren't Gonzaga. Better to model after Xavier and just bring in good coaches.
He didn't bring in Pickett or Camper. He brought in McCollum but he's not in the NBA and likely won't be. Who is this guy talking about?

This post is high comedy. He was ready to jump ship after year one after riding other coaches recruits. He created this current mess.

Obviously John Rap is a buddy of Carm's. As someone posted on here on another thread there are ZERO basketball reasons to keep Carm on as HC. The only reason Saints keep him is if they can't afford the $$$ to get rid of him. Which is a poor ass reason to keep on a HC. BTW who are the players he is talking about?:
C) Carm has brought in several NBA level players. That will continue wherever Carm is coaching.
LMAO! That is hilarious!!!

Early on, in the summer and preseason, I though I read on this board that Tobin A was "The Chosen One" and a hire much superior to those by Siena. Only point is nothing is certain. Do we give AW a chance? Is Will Brown the answer for other than money reasons?

I'm not interested in a coach for the long haul. I am looking for a coach that wins more than 50% of the games, as someone who wins MAAC tournament games and advances to NCAA or NIT bids and moves on to bigger and better jobs so an up and comer will again want the Saints job like the old times when many good coaches wanted the job, by the way we had those type in last 15yrs. but somebody blew for what, CARM.GO SAINTS!!

As I recall, Iona fired Jeff Ruland after a 2 win season. He was a Hall of Fame icon and god there. He didn't get a chance at any sort of redemption. Why should Carm? It's the Franciscan way? I hate to see anyone lose their job but coaching is a performance based profession.

I hate to see Carm lose his job too but the standards are very clear when you take a coaching job...THIS coaching job...
Also, if he does walk away with $800K I won't be crying too hard. That's a boatload of money. Minimally he'll be able to relocate to his next gig and have money for a house, etc. Maybe he can land a gig on ESPN with Doug Sherman.
