Surprise no post from Indian Saint who was at the game. Lady Saints led Niagara through out the game by as much as 20 but coughed up a 16 point fourth quarter lead to the Purple Eagles who scored a layup with a little over four seconds left to take the lead (I think their only lead of the game). Siena's Mevius gets the in bounds pass takes a couple of dribbles and hits a buzzer beater from well beyond half court to win 83 to 82.Niagara uses their entire roster in playing a "hurricane" defense with lots of fouling and wore down the Saints who only used seven players and who were without their top scorer and rebounder .I can't remember such a game winning shot by any Siena men or women's team.

The number of fouls called and the number of turnovers by both sides was epic. Mevius refused to accept defeat that shot was at least a 50 footer.

Awesome game. Of course it would have been even sweeter winning by 10. 🙂 Ever since Jim recruited all of our ball handling guards; I kept telling anyone who’d listen that I couldn’t wait to play Niagara and see how we’d do with all our players who could break the press. Well I wasn’t disappointed. Siena lead for basically the entire game (minus 4.4 seconds). In fact Niagara only tied the game twice (at 17 and at 78, I think) and only for less than 39 seconds. So, a Siena victory was basically a given; except it came down to Mevius’ game winning heave from about half court. I couldn’t be more proud of these ladies. DeAnna Winston was at the game tonight; she and Imani Harris both left the game injured against Niagara in AC in the MAAC tournament against NU. I’m so glad Dee could watch the revenge against NU tonight. I think Siena was up by 6 with about 2 mins to play and NU turned us over on in bounding the ball after made baskets and in a blink of an eye the game is tied w/33 seconds left. What a win!!!

Mevius with her career high tonight, 26. She set her career high with 24 against Manhattan on Thursday night. That’s 50 points in two games. Not only will she win ROW but she has a chance at POW too.

NU plays like the old Coach Mas. Jaspers. They foul every trip. They force the refs to make calls. As we know they can't call them all. So ugly and real tough to watch. Glad they pulled it out. The one ref who called that shot late was real bad.

The one ref who called that shot late was real bad. Agree and we were there too. We have pretty good ball handlers but they dribble too much and need to pass out of the press. I love Mevius but she had 9 turnovers. I so hope we can keep this team together and I would make my NIL donations to keep this team together more than the men. We were also missing Brown again and I hope she is back soon

Manny/Brian said Brown’s out due to concussion protocol. I was guessing that because she was wearing sunglasses at the Manhattan game Thursday night. They stated another fact (about one of the players) that I didn’t know but now I can’t remember what it was. I agree, if we keep this team intact and with the incoming freshmen class next year; we’re going to be real good (like 1st place MAAC every year good) for a long time. Gotta keep them together at Siena though. Things are looking up for the women’s program.

Probably the worst referee I ever watched … and his final call: I would almost bet that he will be on the crew that works the rematch in Lewiston.

There used to be an age limit of 25 as far as playing goes.
