Cal Poly then went on 36-14 run over the next 14 minutes. So after giving up 32 points in about 25 minutes - Siena gave up a ridiculos 36 points over the next 14 plus minutes. While the defense was bad...the offense doesn't get a pass either. Take out the late 10-2 run...scoring 14 points in 14 minutes is bad. Do the math over 40 minutes. Missed FTs continue to bite us (including a few misses on front ends of one and ones). The good news is a lot of these issues appear fixable but it's time to fix them. The four road losses were by a combined 28 points (7 PPG game). The first three losses were to good teams and one without our best player. The loss on Saturday was inexcusable. Hopefully it was part travel and a big time wake up call. The rotation should be primarily 8 - Pickett, Carey, Hein, Camper, Burns, King, Friday and Harris .... that's it. When/if you go 9-10 Sutherland and Young.

Come on Carm show some emotion/fire.

This is why you need a zone in your arsenal. They were beating us off the dribble the entire 2nd half from 15 min mark to the buzzer.

I don’t disagree that we should mix in a little zone but what I really would like to see is some pressing/trapping as well, especially when we are struggling on offense. Create some steals/turnovers for some easy baskets and try and shift the momentum and flow. No sense waiting till the last 2 minutes when you are down 10 and it’s to late.

As Carm said, we don’t have the depth to press. Just the reality right now. Can’t run your 4 good players (one of whom is on a bad knee) into the ground. Zone is more appealing.

Not adverse to running zone situationally especially with only 4 key players available. It shows the opposition different looks, it also helps when you have to sub and the lineup gets less athletic and let’s you give the 4 a bit of a break. IDK maybe some of defensive lapses are due to fatigue.
As Carm shapes the roster to fit his system with more depth/athleticism I can see pressing and going predominantly man. I just don’t think we currently have the depth or athleticism to run both effectively all game especially when playing the bench.
With that being said zone has it’s own issues; allows for good perimeter looks, getting beat opposite the ball and harder to box out. We got beat like a drum when running it last season.
All I can add is pick your poison carefully by knowing your situation and opponent.
