great to see, maybe a little "home cooking" builds his confidence and we seem more of that in the weeks ahead...............

If there's one thing positive takeaway from the cal poly game, it's that Harris had his coming out party...finally. That was the player we thought we were getting. Now if he keeps it up, King finds his shot again, and Friday becomes more consistent, we've got ourselves a bench.

Love the tone Carm is setting that "it's about guys earning it and competing every day in practice". You can definitely tell from his 2020 class that effort and hard work are key values to his team culture. Let's hope Gary "gets" it now and can provide some consistent help off the bench.

If Harris steps up finally, the team will be much more dangerous.
Now they just have to figure out how to gel offensively without having a lot of shooting. There has to be a way to get Pickett, Carey, and Burns etc.. a few more open threes on kick outs.
It can't just be all driving one on one all the time. They need to work together.

I'd really like to see Luke and Kyle get some time over the next 5 games, sitting them is accomplishing nothing now that we've already lost the option to redshirt them.

To me Pickett looked way more comfortable in his role last year predominantly running the Pickett n roll with Evan and playing slower & distributing. This year their appears to be a bit of an issue with the big 4 working together as a unit when he’s holding the ball. When Pickett keeps the ball and attempts the pick n roll or is trying get “his” shot the offense gets/looks stagnant. We were successful early on because we got to the rim. Shot selection over the last 4 games has gotten progressively worse. We definitely need shooters and the ability to hit from the outside but from what I’ve been seeing it’s more about the quality of shots we are now taking and movement without the ball. This is not a good perimeter shooting team (at least so far). We need to pick those spots/shots carefully. As far as Harris goes, any production off the bench is a positive, I hope this last performance gives him some confidence and a boost. What do you think ..... ?

I like Luke's potential but not as much as I like BK's. If they're not getting time this year, they might not ever. There will be a lot more front court competition next year...and Camper won't be giving his starting 4 spot up for another year. Kyle could develop into a good bench big who provides a body. He might be a future Sammy Friday role player. I don't see him as a starter...more as that tough rebounding big who maybe gives 10-15 mins off the bench down the line. Harris, though, he needs to start making things happen or he could fade into the black once Carpenter arrives. Either he firmly establishes himself as a rotation player now or he'll have to fight just for role player minutes next year. If he establishes himself as a starter type this year, then Carpenter could be the 6th man...much in the same way as would happen with a guy like Brendan Barry coming in. If Harris and King step up plus you get another contributor to go along with Carpenter....it would turn into crazy back court depth that would allow them to run and press all game.

How can you use the term finally after 5 games for a freshman 18 yrs. old.. They are still kids for heaven sakes trying to cope with college, studies which is what they are in school for. You talk about them like they are 25 year olds. When I started school, freshmen couldn't play varsity sports. Maybe we should go back to that.

This is not a good perimeter shooting team (at least so far). What do you think ..... ? Pickett always had Degnan and Seymour as an outlet to spread the floor last year. I don't think Fisher had much to do with it. Carey needs to make himself open when Pickett drives. They need to find a way to get each other open shots. Camper can get them shots too but he's been more of an all or nothing driver...luckily he's usually 'all'. They need to work WITH each other...and not just alongside each other. They can score individually...they just rely too much on that. They need to play more as a team and learn to get around the spacing issue. Perhaps more high ball screens where Burns shoots a three might open up the low post for cutters as well. They have the tools to make this work...they just have to use them. I don't know if this is a Carm offensive style issue or if it's just a player execution thing. The bench clearly has been putting a lot of pressure on the Core 4 to be flawless and it can wear on them. Perhaps Pickett is putting a little too much pressure on himself and not looking enough to find ways to get others shots vs. taking it himself. Also, others need to find a way to get Pickett better shots so he doesn't feel the need to force things so that he's making the impact he thinks is expected of him. This is on Carm, Carey, Camper, and everyone else.

The non-Core 4 production has been awful overall thru 7 games. I think saying 'finally' when someone not in that bunch scores double digits for the first time this season is well warranted. I don't care how old they are.

now that we've already lost the option to redshirt them. I'm pretty sure we have til the 9th game to RS a kid. Young would be the guy, not both. I noticed at C-P, Young had a huge black wrap on his knee, and that might be sign of a injury we can still sell even though he got into a game or two. A RS year would be great for him. I still wish we did that for Manny. He was never utilized as a frosh. Imagine him as a soph right now with JP and DC?? Scary.

The rule is 30% or less of games played in the regular season and not beyond the halfway point of the season. For a 29 game season like this year, the max is 8 games (last year was 9 because of the 31 game season). Also, there needs to be the medical component ...
