Didn't watch the game, didn't read the whole thread on this board on the results. Like everyone, I'm disappointed by the loss and especially the performances of our big 3. That said, it's not all doom and gloom. Just looking at the box score, Manny had another solid game statistically and Harris may have had his coming out party after all. Still a lot of ball to play.
GO SAINTS!!

Here's my positive post of the day after sleeping on it last night - it's still all in front of the team.
I don't want to say "it's about about the MAAC" but the only thing the 2-5 start has done is torpedo any chance for a good seed should we make the NCAA/NIT tournament. We were never getting an at-large obviously for a variety of reasons. At this point in year 2 of the "rebuild" going to a national postseason tournament (NCAA/NIT) is the goal even if it's not in a good position to advance.
So we can still get to our MAIN goals of going to the NCAA tournament (winning MAAC tournament) or NIT (winning regular season title)
That doesn't mean Siena doesn't absolutely need to beat Bucknell and Holy Cross at home because they do.
Hopefully we'll do what Iona has done the last few years. Shit the bed in the OOC and kill the MAAC. The tools are there to do it but Carm and the staff needs to mix some things up in these next two weeks.
I had us at 20-9, 14-6 MAAC.... 20-9 probably isn't happening but the 14-6 can still happen.
Go Saints!!!

Siena is currently 340th in KenPom's "luck" metric.
They were 43rd last year.
Regression of means...

Go Saints!!! OOC for me this year was ALWAYS about the coach and team finding their sea legs. If we were favored to win the league, it would be different, but we’re not and I had no delusion that a first year coach with many new faces would be looking ahead to a preferable seed in the tournament. Baby steps - let’s get there first.

Speaking of OOC. Other MAAC teams are doing way better. It's about coming together and seeing where you stand as a team going forward. Siena isn't gelling well. Not that tough of a schedule and should be a 500 team. Niagara just beat Colgate by 11 pts 93-82 in O.T. Niagara were up 78-70 with 1:32 left and blew that lead, but won it in O.T. Siena lost by 10 to Colgate. Not a good sign of where the Saints are right now. Cal Poly was a huge wake up call.

What I never like seeing is regression. Usually it’s a sign of a bigger issue. I thought we’ve gotten progressively worse and more out of sync with each game. Maybe it’s the 4 road games with new players, new system and a new coach. Growing pains? Maybe the Ivy games took some wind out of our sails? IDK.
We will find out soon enough.

Colgate is probably feeling like we did losing at Cal Poly (Niagara and CP were similar in KenPom) Plus Colgate didn’t have to go across the country. And our schedule has been very tough. Last night was the exception— CP is not good. Awful loss. The rest all good teams. I’m not making excuses but that’s the reality. This team has to learn to win on the road. So far at home two double digit wins. Good news is the next 4 and 5 of the next 6 are at the TUC.

Don’t forget that this is the same team that beat St. Bonaventure that lost to Cal Poly. They also took Yale to 3OT. I think Yale might be a dangerous NCAA Tournament team. You need to win the winnable home games. Bucknell is one of those. I think a home loss to Bucknell would be worst than a road loss to Cal Poly. The team should be antsy to get on the home court to redeem themselves with the long layoff.
