Caught their game last night vs Virginia. They scored 34 points in a bad loss. Worst collection of talent I’ve ever seen for a Boeheim led team. Was also Joe Girard the 3rd debut at the Dome. Didn’t play well, but wasn’t overwhelmed. Shot 1-6, couple assists in 22 minutes.

Not to defend Boeheim entirely, but he does seem to lose a lot of guys going pro early only one starter back from last year? I know other top teams have that too, but as an SU alum, even I wouldn't mind seeing a coaching change. I hear Pat Bielein (sp?) is looking for work and has lived in central NY... ;-)

I’m not a huge fan of Syracuse, but I believe Virginia will make many teams and players look terrible with their absolutely suffocating defense.

The problem wasn’t UVA last night, it was a roster full of mediocre talent. Hughes is their best player and he wouldn’t start on most of SUs really good teams.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Girard end up at Siena.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Girard end up at Siena. With all due respect he'll probably be starting for Syracuse as a Freshman soon...he outplayed their incumbent PG ("outplayed" obviously being faint praise when their team looked awful). I tuned in to the entire Cuse game and agree with HJ - their talent level is abysmal this year. They haven't run a competent offense in the past several years, but now they don't even have the stallions to save them with hero ball every now and again. Unless some of the Freshman turn out to be decent but haven't found their footing yet, it's going to be a long season for the Orange (and I say that as a huge Cuse fan).

I wouldn't be surprised to see Girard end up at Siena. Boeheim doesn't just throw freshman out there to get experience, he's had tons of redshirt freshman and sophomores that have become impact players while never or rarely seeing the court their first season. The fact that Girard played 22 minutes in his debut against a top ten conference opponent shows he is going to be a major part of the team this year.

And by "soon" I meant after their first two games lol.
