I got to meet Jimmy Ratliff’s dad (also Jimmy) yesterday at the Sneak Preview. I know MarkSingelais reported this last year but not only did Jimmy play for Ohio St from 1990-94 but played with future NBA players: Jim Jackson, Derek Anderson, Chris Jent, and Lawrence Funderburke.
Also, found out that he’s a fellow Mopar man. He had a sweet Dodge Challenger. I had a ‘71 Plymouth Satellite back in high school. Of course his was much newer and in excellent condition whereas mine was 10 years old at the time, rusted, faded paint but still fast for a small block 8 cylinder.
I miss that car.

He’s quicker than Richard. He seems almost like a Hymes caliber PG. Might be just good enough at it to be called one but not good enough to start as one. It’s music to my ears to hear he’s likely in the top 8. Make Ratliff number 9 and call it a preseason. I think you may be overrating his quickness. Hymes was a jet. I watched the Guilderland game (much better comp than Amsterdam). He’s not a burner. He can get where he needs to go on the floor though. Other benefit of having the bigger guards around him is you can play him as a “2” and not get killed defensively. He matches up with the point on defense and you bump Jalen or Don over. Hymes was awful

In the first chat with Carm, he said he was looking to bring back the green and gold game and have it some time in early October. Haven't seen anything else about it though

I saw on LinkedIn he works fro wElls Fargo in Raleigh I think I saw at one point that the charges had been dropped or the case was dismissed...I could be wrong. He always seemed like a nice kid to me, but we never really know all these guys we root for - at ANY level.

Given that King is doing well...
This would be MY 9 man rotation:
PG -- Pickett 6-4 --- 33 , King 6-0 ---------- 7 SG -- Carey 6-5 ---- 32 , King 6-0 ---------- 8 SF -- Harris 6-6 ---- 30 , Ratliff 6-8 -------- 10 PF -- Camper 6-7 -- 25 , Sutherland 6-7 -- 15 C --- Burns 6-8 ---- 25 , Friday 6-9 -------- 15
Pickett and Carey would have to be staggered. However, if King can really shoot...this should not be a problem and it would be their best option. They'd always have 2 of those 3 guys on the court and a veteran PG out there at all times.
Pickett and Carey might only play 15-18 mins together but it would keep the team settled at all times.
Hein's lack of shooting creates problems with the amount of minutes that Camper is likely to get. Ratliff is the better 9th man option for his shooting potential...so the lanes will stay open.

I think that rotation is much closer to mark-- I differ slightly but not enough to quibble at this point, I think over next month the rotation will come much more into focus. I do think early in season we might see more players rotated in and out and as season plays out- down to a consistent 8 man rotation with another 9th player getting spot duty. I think Hein, Ratliff will fight it out for 9th spot in rotation

I think Hein, Ratliff will fight it out for 9th spot in rotation If King shoots over 35% from 3, takes ok care of the ball, and plays at least ok defense...then Siena is a more well rounded team. I get that Hein might draw more charges etc. but I'm not sure the difference in his D will warrant the tradeoff on offense vs. Ratliff's potential to keep the floor spread. Ratliff also can play pretty good D at times. He just needs to be more consistent. Ratliff has much higher upside than Hein and his height on the perimeter can be disruptive given his mobility. I think this rotation provides the best combined mix of offense and defense.
