Love it.

He is our best shooter Did we not know that King was likely a better offensive player than Hein going in? If King can shoot and even remotely defend, he should play over Hein...who is just a defensive plug at best.

Anyway, I don’t want to hear about any suggestions that Harris isn’t a starter. Sickness aside, he starts and shines or Siena doesn’t.
However, if people are slotting in Friday...it means he’s back to last year's form, and that’s good news.
Still, aside from Harris, we need King and/or Ratliff to step up. And if King is already doing it, that’s great news as well.

Yes and no... it’s not like Sammy is going to play more than 20ish minutes a night. That’s just not him. That means a lot of Burns at the 5 (at least 10 minutes and probably a lot more). That gives Sutherland and Camper plenty of minutes at the 4 and clears the way for smaller lineups. Would expect to see Harris start from day one over Friday, but we’ll see that two big lineup. Burns is way more skilled than people realize and he hasn’t really played any 5 since HS.

Watch this game and tell me you still would want Hein ahead of King.
He’s not perfect but he makes dagger plays.

He needs to improve his decision-making to play PG but can flat out shoot. Remember: he had a terrific summer and was tracking to have many mid-majors offering for 2020. Kid has gotten better since that tape.

It’s music to my ears to hear he’s likely in the top 8. Make Ratliff number 9 and call it a preseason.

I watched the Guilderland game (much better comp than Amsterdam). He’s not a burner. He can get where he needs to go on the floor though. Other benefit of having the bigger guards around him is you can play him as a “2” and not get killed defensively. He matches up with the point on defense and you bump Jalen or Don over.

I did not mean he was Hymes fast...only Hymes assist ratio type... He’s quick but not Hymes quick..no way. However, he seems creative enough to have like a 1.30 to 1 ratio or so ceiling.

And if King is already doing it, that’s great news as well. Harris has been sick so he hasn’t practiced much last week, so maybe that does change over next 4 weeks, But I kind of like starting Sammy- gives us an more experienced starting group, and GS is right it’s not like Sammy is a 30 min a game type guy- Elijah is very versatile, so he will get plenty of time at the 5, opening up the 4 for Luke and Manny. Gary will get his 20/25 min maybe more as season wears on. As good as Gary is, I disagree the season hinges on Gary starting and or getting 30 min a game. Siena will go as far as Jalen, Don and Elijah can carry us, All 3 are potential ALL MAAC type players. Manny, Gary, Luke Sammy and Jordan are pretty good role players – but 3 of them are freshmen- better to bring them along slowly As for Jordan going ahead of Hein- to me it’s surprising seeing a walk on go by a 3 year player. Jordan isn’t that fast ( he’s not slow but he’s no jet and that’s what held down his recruitment) but in addition to being an excellent shooter ( and several players told me he is by far best shooter on team) Jordan is very crafty and has a variety of moves to get his shot off even in traffic or being closely guarded What Siena has done is trade in Evan, Kevin, Sloan and Kadeem ( all 4 good players but for most part one dimensional players) For Potential ALL MAAC, two way players Elijah and Don, off the charts potential of Gary, return of Sammy, Solid freshmen in Luke and Jordan. After Don and Elijah, Jalen is probably most excited player to see them suit up for Saints, Don will take pressure off Jalen, and I can’t wait to see Pickett and Roll to Elijah for the slam ( and one)

No offense or disrespect to Tony & his post but That’s his opinion. There's been nothing written (or I’m aware of said) by the coaching staff that contradicts the original statements of playing 4 guards & a forward/center. Sammy, Luke, Kyle & Denzel can spell Elijah as the starting Center/Forward. Yes, I included Luke in here because he could play/guard the 3-5 (especially in games with undersized centers) from what I hear. That’s also not to say that we won’t see Elijah playing with a Sammy, Luke, Kyle or Denzel at times but I do not believe it’ll be the norm.

If King can shoot and even remotely defend, he should play over Hein...who is just a defensive plug at best. I was going to bust on Tony’s earlier statements when he said Hein was brought in to play, get the 10-15 mins or more and would get it because he’s more experienced & played at a higher level. However, it made sense and was reasonable at that time. I’m just hearing so many good things about King that I find it hard to believe he won’t get more minutes that I originally had thought he’d get (especially if he can play D even a little). Maybe Hein would play D at the end of tight games early in the season because of his toughness & experience. Heard or read he’s taken the most charges in practice so far. If King is as good as I’m hearing the loss of Webster won’t be considered bad, plus don’t count on him transferring or “not” getting a ship next year. He’ll be good enough to stay & get the ship, IMO.
