I know 3,500 seating capacity would work very well, with room left over, based on what the Stags now draw. If they anticipate growth in the hoop program--as they apparently did in the first place by moving most home games to Webster Arena--5,000 or 6,000 would be a lot smarter.

It's all about space, money and town/state zoning/traffic approval. And yes, game atmosphere is also a consideration. The high-end residential location of the campus makes attracting traffic to the campus a very sensitive issue. At this capacity, fears were alleviated as at 3500 it is about the current attendance of a Fairfield Prep football game, which does not cause any significant stress on the infrastructure in the surrounding area. And games on campus will attract many spectators from right on the campus as a shuttle to Webster is a very unpopular option with students (as I'm sure you've witnessed if ever attending a game at Webster Bank Arena). I believe on campus cars are not authorized till junior year. Last year's on campus games were very well attended by students. Additionally, at this size, the plan puts the building very close to the current footprint of the current Alumni Hall with some really creative architectural design to increase capacity in that footprint by turning the court 90 degrees and overhanging the second level. It is anticipated a couple of marquis games a year will still be played at Webster, which is common practice by many schools in even higher rated conferences. Needless to say, the excitement is building in Stagland.

I live in Trumbull, so I'd LOVE to see the Fairfield hoops program become strong again and I can catch more local games (other than when Siena comes in) between my trips to Albany. Good luck!

When I was adding all the Siena games into my calendar I noticed that the Feb game at Fairfield is actually at Fairfield & not in Bridgeport.
Does this mean all Fairfield home games will be on campus or will they schedule a couple at Bridgeport depending on the team?
I like going to Fairfield game at the old on campus gym even though I only attended a handful before they moved to Bridgeport for the Siena games.

In the coming season 8 games on campus and 5 in Bridgeport. If demolition stays on track for spring of 2020, next season will be entirely in Bridgeport.

The last time I remember Siena playing on campus was the last game I attended there when I believe Hewitt was coach. I remember Archbold was still in the team.
