Typical meet and greet lots of positive comments. Of note Carm said Darwiche could be ready to play by September and for those who thought Young had weight to lose he certainly didn’t look like he needed to lose anything but like most freshmen needs to bulk up his upper torso. Coach said he is working hard and will be needed to be part of a multi headed front court capable of sprinting end to end when the guards have the ball in their hands.

If we re counting on those two to win this year, we re in serious trouble.

Well I hope, for Siena's sake, that Darwiche really was hampered by the injury all year and that's why he struggled so much. We really need another decent guard contributor.
However, his stat history in FIBA and other place never showed him as much of either a scorer, rebounder, defender, or as having a high assist rate.
The best I can see from Darwiche is he shoots ok on a couple threes a game and has a slightly better than 1 to 1 assist ratio. He'd probably be like Aidas of FF without as many assists and without nearly as many steals.
Still, if he can do that, he could give Pickett a few minutes of breather per game without selling the farm too much.

If we re counting on those two to win this year, we re in serious trouble. I don’t think that is the coach’s Game plan. He introduced the players and had to say something about everyone. The comments on the others were about as expected. As I said it is all positive all the time at this time of year.

Last night was a enjoyable summer break. Stop trying to read into every comment by the coach. We have a team full of nice young men who do well in a social setting. When the whistle blows they will be ready.

I didn't get to go, but the wife was there. She said Sammy Friday also grew an inch, and seems to be close with Luke Sutherland and Manny Camper in particular.

I agree with Murray and Warden. I don't agree with others who see a need to have folks jump thorough the ceiling and showcase. Some good steady, reliable players who can handle the ball, give starters a rest without costing us are very valuable. Young comes to mind as that kind of player.Steve McAvoy (sp) was that kind of player and over the four years developed into a difference maker. He didn't run fast or jump very high. He did have a nose for the ball, had good hands (didn't need to catch it three times to catch it once) and was anything but flashy. I think a team of 12 "starters" is probably not a cohesive team. Just saying.

I guess my point was those two are players 12 & 13 on the depth chart, so if we need to count on them, it’s not a great situation. But you’re right, all good thoughts on free ice cream day! 🍦
