Well it is August 3rd now...the Siena fall semester starts exactly a month from today on September 3rd. While it is possible we could add someone eligible to play during the 2019-2020 it looks likely that the roster is set in stone or pretty close to it unless there is a recruit Carm and staff are working on that we don't know about.
The starters are pretty much locked in -
PG: Pickett, So. 6'4 SG: Carey, So. (R) 6'5 SF: Harris, Fr. 6'6 PF: Camper, Jr. 6'7 C: Burns, Sr. (R) 6'8
Top reserves -
L. Sutherland, Fr. 6'7 J. Ratliff, So. (R) 6'8 S. Friday, Jr. (R) 6'9 M. Hein, Sr. (R) 6'4
Other reserves -
G. Darwiche, So. 6'1 K. Young, Fr. 6'8 J. King, Fr. 6'0 (walk-on) D. Tchougang, Jr. 6'10 (walk-on) R. Mahala, So. 6'5 (walk-on) B. Diamond, Sr. 5'11 (walk-on)
I'll put that starting line-up against ANY in the MAAC. Our question will be our bench. We definitely need some quality play from Luke Sutherland, Jimmy Ratliff, Matt Hein and Sammy Friday.
But we'll go as far as our starters will take us. We have maybe the two best guards in the league including the best player in the league on paper. A very highly rated recruit. A workman like PF and the most athletic big man in the conference.
Nobody has studs coming off their bench in the MAAC. While it would have been nice for Sloan to stick it our or land Webster/Dunn we still have enough off the bench. Remember you're looking for a bench of guys like Wignot, Downey (in their fr/so seasons) Duell etc...if you do that and the starters are as good as we hope then this team can win a MAAC championship and get to the NCAA tournament!

I'm not as sure as you about the starting 5 being locked in at this point. Still some flexibility for Carm based on how practice goes. As for impactful reserves at the MAAC level, I see Ratliff and Hein having the potential consistently, with Friday and Sutherland occasionally doing so.
Agree with you that I'm real comfortable with our talent level this season, and it will only get better once we're a "name" again.
GO SAINTS!!

Make it to the tournament and we’ll see a lot less of the Sienna University references. ;-)

Siena is quite thin right now. HEAVILY reliant on the starting backcourt.
Pickett, Carey, Harris, Camper should all play 30+ mins every game.....until Ratliff or King steps up.
Every single one of them.
If Harris is great...then it could be the best starting 1-3 in the league. However, behind them it's bleek right now.
They'll probably need Camper to move around and fill gaps in guard mins...so Sutherland will be needed a lot to cover the PF position. Ratliff will be needed to cover all the other wing mins.
Hein will probably be needed, and that's scary to me. I HOPE Jordan King is ready to do something for us.
If Young is decent, they may need him as they could push Burns to the PF to fill time in case of emergency with Friday at center....and Young would have to help at center.
Assuming Burns is as advertised, this team is 2 quality bench guards short of a title I think. Ratliff and King could maybe help change that but, it may be a lot to ask.

Honestly, I think they should play stall ball a bit still with this roster...maybe not as pronounced as last year...but I think they need to protect/preserve the top 8 guys...especially the top 3 guards.
The starting lineup is very capable of running but they should STALL, STALL, STALL with the bench guys as much as possible to minimize the impact.
Dunn would have been the solid minutes eating guard that could have changed it all but without someone else....it's tough to push the pace.

That may be part of the plan with Carm's comments that he wanted to sit Pickett and Carey at the same time. Slow it down before the TV timeouts and get them an extended break while limiting the number of possessions with the bench on the floor.

You have to hope to stay healthy. Nobody has great depth in college basketball, certainly not in the MAAC. Look at Fran's great teams....it was basically 6 or 7 guys. Just stay healthy and we'll be fine. I don't worry about foul trouble. While we probably won't foul as little as we did last year we're not going back to JP's 2 1/2 hour game foul fests.

Who knows what he had planned at that point and who he thought would be on the end roster? Things have changed. Seymour is gone and 2 scholarships are still open. Can anyone imagine a Hein, King, Ratliff, Sutherland, Friday lineup actually extending a lead right at this point? A lot of things probably will have to go right to make that a success. However, the starting lineup is potentially very potent together because of their athleticism and energy and you'd hate to break them up too much...though you might need to.

Pickett will need to play 35+ mpg. I don't see any way around it. Probably Carey too. Harris has a bit more coverage with Ratliff behind him but could be a drop off. Camper should really be just a 20-25 mpg guy but he'll probably need to play more cause of his toughness, experience, and ballhandling. Honestly, it might make sense to start Sutherland at some point and let Camper be a super sub. I just don't see this team being able to up the tempo that much. Some, yes. A lot, no. Just not enough backcourt horses unless they pull a late rabbit out of their hats.

Losing Sloan will affect us this year. Even with his known deficiencies. That 10-15 mins off the bench could have helped. Spreading the floor and making the defense adjust when he came in.
Not saying we can’t recover, but he would have been a nice option on offense.

Is there any Maac team whose 2nd five are a lock to extend the lead? I have not seen many teams in the past who could do that. Not Even Frans teams.

No reason this team cant defend and play up tempo hoop and win at the same time.
Tallest "quality" back court we have had in years to go with athletic guys who can run the floor and finish at the 3/4/5.

Carey has a stress fracture in his foot. Yeah, he may be ok for the season...but who is to say something else happens...either to him or someone else.
Need that other guard.

With that said it is worth considering that he left for a reason and that could very well be how good some of the new guys are.
