If you lose a recruit to St Johns there’s no reason to hang your head. Next!

Not knocking the Dunn kid because I didn't know him personally, but I didn't like some of the quotes I read from him - hope I am wrong here - but lots of "me" reference and not a lot of "team" reference, but as I say, hope I am wrong.

I think what Siena has now are lots of "team first" players and it only takes one "me first" player to upset that chemistry. I think right now the team is all on the same page, which is a very good thing, having endured some of the years Saints fans have endured in the recent past.

Iona has gotten impact guys later than this... Yeah but those players' late availability was due to no other schools being willing to touch them because of one issue or another. Such players are not in Siena's wheelhouse. Other than a grad transfer or borderline player such as King with little division 1 interest, there's not much out there admissible to Siena. And we'll all come down on Carm like a ton of bricks if he takes another Hein. Better to hold both then take crap you're then stuck with for years. I think we have a real shot this year to win the MAAC. I’d take a 5th year that could make the difference in one or two games. That’s what seoerates the top 4 teams afterall.

Are there any other good 5th years out there? That's the question. I would think all the good ones are taken with it being August.

Simon is the only assistant who has produced thus far. To be fair Wyche looked like he did a good job on Webster - his father was impressed with the staff. It was just a PT issue and Hawaii. Harley did what he could with Dunn but he went with the "name" place and he's a NYC kid. We lost out on - Ward (VCU) Dunn (St. John's) Webster (Hawaii) And signed - Harris (Washington St/Kansas St offers) So 25% isn't great but when you recruit "up" you are going to lose battles more than you win. But I'll take that over 75% success rate against low-major D1 competition. Will be interesting if we're done for 2019 and who we can sign for 2020 when there is more separation with the classes.

You sign one “under the radar” guy and then have 8 upper level kids you compete for and grab two, that’s a 3 man class with 2 guys who’d be on track for all-MAAC and one role player.

Not sure that formula works any more with two or three kids entering the revolving door transfer portal every year.

So Dunn gets offered by SJ and Eli Wright decides to transfer without ever taking the floor for the Johnnies. Any chance we make an attempt? Kid’s options at this late of a date have to be somewhat limited for ‘19/20.
Sat out last year could be immediately eligible.🤔 Would think we would at least inquire.
