I know this was just an exercise in numbers- but I don’t see Dunn avg anywhere near 16 ppg for us. Hopefully Rasheem has a good , honest support system around him, if he does- he ends up at Siena. While he may play a bit at St John’s next year, year after he either doesn’t play or is run off. At Siena , Rasheem has to “buy” into team concept. At St Franny Dunn was primary scoring option, at Siena depending on matchups'he will be anywhere from 2nd to 4th option. Jalen is /will be the “man” at Siena and again that’s not to say Rasheem couldn’t lead us in scoring some games- but this team will go as far as Jalen , Don and Elijah can take us. If Rasheem can buy into that and "team" concept, he would be a MAAC plus level starter – a kid that can easily avg double figures for us Of course, his shot volume should fall but just showing the rates.

this was on New YOrk City Rivals and has an obvious SJU slant given they dont mention the SIena visit. I dont see them taking him:

St. John’s is hoping that former Thomas Jefferson (NY) star Rasheem Dunn
returns home for his final years of college.
Head coach Mike Anderson and assistant Van Macon have been in constant contact with the 6-foot-2 guard, who last played basketball at St. Francis (NY) where he averaged 15.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
“They want me to be a part of what they have going on there with the fast pace and up-tempo style,” he said. “They feel like I can contribute to the team a lot and help them in the Big East.”
While at St. Francis (NY) and then eventually Cleveland State, Dunn kept tabs on St. John’s and Shamorie Ponds. He watched a lot of their games and is a fan of what they’ve been able to do and is also intrigued by the allure of the program.
“I’ve been watching them for years now. My high school teammate Shamorie Ponds went there, so I caught a few of their games,” Dunn said. “It’s in Queens, you play a lot of games in Madison Square Garden, the fans love St. John’s and the Big Apple is where everyone wants to play.”
He’s scheduled to take an official visit to campus on August 1st and he’s hoping to learn about the coaches and the culture at St. John’s.
“I’m expecting to learn more about the coaches,” he said. “I’m just trying to see what the coaches can do for me to help me get to the next level. Not only just for me, but other players on the team.”
“I want to feel a vibe, see their commitment to each other and if they have a vision for what they want from the players.”
Arkansas, Hawaii, New Mexico, New Mexico State, Siena and Iona, among others, are also recruiting him. It will take a lot to get him to commit, but one thing he’s looking for, among other things, is fit.
“I’m being selective about my options,” he said. “I want to pick a school that fits best with me and will try to get me to the next level and help improve me to be the best person I can be on and off the court.”

bigsaintg - Maybe i missed something. I definitely see the SJU slant (and apparently Dunn's first choice), so I guess its your gut feeling they won't take him. The fact his teammate is there, I see that as in his favor (although a small advantage). If that's where he really wants to go, I could see him accepting if offered with no major promises at SJU, eg., significant PT, etc. Hope I'm wrong.

His teammate left for the pros-- as did the coach he played for. I don't know what St John's is doing. It doesn't make much if any sense for St John's to take him other than as a favor to a former player and a nod to recruiting in NYC. St John's needs a big. We'll see what happens. If they want him, they probably will be able to lock him down-- if they can't beat out Siena for a city kid Anderson is in major trouble. If this is just them doing due diligence and the interest is more on Dunn's side than their side-- then we are in great shape.

I wasn’t just basing my judgement on the article alone as I have seen they are after a few other kids for this year and he doesn’t fill a big need. Maybe that’s my Siena slant 🤓

I'm discouraged that he seems so enamored with St John's even after his "great" visit to Siena last week...feels like Webster 2.0...

If it's about "fit" Siena is the place for him. Sure I'm a homer but objectively he will get forgotten quickly at St. John's.
It seems like he is smitten with the idea of SJU/MSG but how much of a priority are they going to make him? Siena showed Dunn a love of love. Hopefully that pays off.

I guess I’ll just take the wait and see approach on Dunn & hope we get lucky!

True but Hawaii > Loudonville,NY > Jamaica, NY
Unless he's really much more comfortable in an urban environment, and he may be, then we still have a good shot.

His good friend & former HS teammate & former SJ player (Ponds) is accompanying him on his SJ visit. Something tells me “IF” SJ offers he’s there. I’d love to have him here I’m just not holding my breath.

I agree that if SJU wants him he’ll go there. But a birdie tells me they want a big man for their last ship. He’s a local kid so it’s not costing them anything to bring him in and kick the tires. I think we’ll know by next weekend.

What Dunn needs to be aware of is that he’s a recruiting stop gap at SJ for ‘19 and will likely be recruited over in a heartbeat for his senior season. Definitely a better fit here.

We all want him here. Not everyone at St. Johns but, let's be real here. What we want and see isn't necessarily what the kid wants and sees. It's up to him.
