interesting Jaden has Quinny so high, I too think Quinny will be pretty good this year Seems to me that it could be more of a trust factor than anything else as Dunleavy has shown that he's got potential to be a great coach. Obviously we will see how he does without Cam Young but having them ahead of Rider seems right. Hard to trust a guy who can't get past the quarterfinals in the conference tournament

Quinny’s defense is horrible. Not sure a post-Young offense can make up for it. He was to Quinny what Nelson was for FF.

I don't know think the Iona fans are stupid with their picks. Look at it from their perspective. Though they acknowledge Pickett is the best player in the league, he's the only sure thing Siena has. The team becoming what we think it will be is wholly dependent on a bunch of newcomers and an untested rookie head coach. So they have good reasons to bearish on Siena. That's fine. I prefer it that way. Those same people picked Siena last year. It's was more fun defying expectations than being predicted to be a contender. So I like the all their 4th or 5th place predictions.
And realistically, Rider, Iona, Quinny are indeed all capable of finishing ahead of Siena if Carm can't cut it. If everyone is asked good as we think, talent alone doesn't guarantee wins. Lest we forget the 17-17 record Patsos managed with four 1,000 point scorers. So yeah, Siena has a lot to prove before they're picked high by anyone. You guys are going to be disappointed if you think all of the basketball magazines are going to pick Siena highly.

Not really, for most part they aren’t that far off. 2 of Siena’s best 3 players haven’t played a minute in the MAAC, and we have an unproven head coach. I expect the coaches will pick Siena 3rd or 4th – and we don’t really care, put the target on other teams, What Iona fans fear is that if this very young Siena is good to real good their dynasty is in serious trouble. Siena is a program that “can” knock Iona off their perch on top of the MAAC. Siena has experience this year but still will be a Freshmen/sophomore dominated team. But at this point, it’s all just potential, Siena has a ton of question marks, starting with Carm, we need Don to be as good as we think he will be, Elijah to at least a 10 and 7 type guy and integrate all the newcomers into seamless unit. Personally I think Carm has the answer to those questions, I think Siena potentially has best talent in the MAAC, but I can see why other MAAC fans will say “prove” it

Quinny returns 2nd best PG in conference in Kelly, Rigoni, Williams ( who is poised to make soph jump) Marfo, Add Falzone, a couple RS guards and add 3 star 7 footer Pickney-- so while Young is a big loss for Quinny, he isnt QU Nelson- Quinny has plenty of talent and I expect them to be near top of MAAC standings

Lots of new things this year, a first year coach not being the least. Let’s not put exceedingly high expectations and pressure on him. A lot of this year will be getting his feet wet and establishing his system.it might take awhile. Give him time.

Except Quinny still has an All-MAAC kid in the backcourt, and a lot of good young wings. Quinny has had a 310 and 313 ranked D the last 2 years and have some redundant pieces who play the same position. Plus, they won because of offensive efficiency. Young had a PPS of like 1.58 while rest of their team combined for like 1.23. Young carried them. Rigoni and Falzon are both face up 4s. Marfo and Pinkney likely won’t play together and a lot of the guards are like 6-1. Quinny has quality players and depth but it’s a lot to ask for their D to just improve..or for them to find what Young did for them in one of the freshmen. Top 5 ok, top 3? Not without a defense. Dunleavy has yet to show he even knows what defense is. And for as solid as Kelly is, Quinny has had a poor A/TO ratio as a team the last 2 years.

In fairness folks, the 18 games was to help teams like Siena, Quinny, Iona when they have good squads to NOT lower their RPI by playing bottom feeders twice. They can't force teams to be good but they can limit the damage a bad team can do to a good team's RPI.

With 18 games there was a very real benefit to being picked low in the coaches poll as you got an easier schedule. Now that it is back to 20 it is nothing more than "bulletin board material" which I've always found to be way overrated. Like these kids aren't trying to win and then suddenly they hear someone say something bad about them and they are suddenly motivated, please.
