am hearing that Carm is reaching out to Woods...…………………... He'd be crazy not to, just hoping what HJ is saying isn't true cause if he wants to go to the biggest conference possible then there is nothing we can do. Didn’t you mean to say lower tier of a bigger conference... that’s where GW will be near term

That is the mentality of some guys, to take the offer from the biggest conference you can get to. I hope that isn't his line of thinking cause if it is then even the chance to say you played in the A10 will carry a lot more weight than playing in the MAAC. Likely he winds up somewhere bigger than both the A10 and MAAC.

More weight for what ... media coverage is about the same for MAAC & A10 ... kids want to be seen on national TV & a trip or two to Big Dance . . . I get choosing a bigger conference but GW is not the team in the A10 to choose at the moment

Sure the A10 is better as far as rank so is the Big 10, but it doesn’t make GW and Nebraska automatically better programs than Siena. All depends how you can sell it, people change their minds all the time. Again all I’m saying is you make a hard push you just don’t assume he “wants to go higher”.

Absolutely you go after him, I said that in my first post. It was Hoopjunkie that said the kid wants to go to the highest level possible and I said I hope that isn't the case. If that is the case he won't end up at Siena and it will be no fault of Coach Carm.

Hey, it never hurts to reach out. You got nothing to lose. The kid wanted biggest back when, and picked a football school. Could his mentality have changed since then? Maybe, who knows? I’d be more worried about trying to sell a very good PG on coming to a lower level conference with a great sophomore PG like Pickett already in place. PS- I’m sure it’s not just us and GW after him.

MAW- had mainly MAAC/MAC/ A10/C-USA offers coming out of high school- his one serious P5 offer he took . Kid could have come to Siena last year ( JC made big push on him) and Woods decided to go prep instead- he didn’t go prep to end up back at Siena. I’m pretty sure he will go with highest offer he gets

Well I might re classify Woods to Siena from zero chance, to slim. St John’s lost their top recruiting asst to Nebraska, one of his recruits is a top JuCo PG has been released from his St John’s LOI and is expected to sign with Nebraska- which would be end of Woods going back to Cornhuskers. Nebraska was Woods only serious P5 offer. Now the Johnnies now need a PG and could get involved with Woods, and any number of P5 teams might need a 1 year rental of an “insurance” guard that Woods could pursue But with Carm’s close ties to City Rocks, fact Jalen and Sloan are friends with him, I officially upgrade Siena’s chances of signing Woods, from 0% to 5% chance. I still think Woods will go to highest level offering, but yes I am now saying there is a chance however slim it might be

Sometimes timing is everything. The reason to get out of an offer may appear on the surface to being about a coaching change but the real reason may lie underneath the surface.
It may be about things such as playing closer to home and seeing a lower tier school that last year at this time was looking like a 2/3 yr rebuild situation is now looking like a school who has a very good chance of making a 3/4 yr run to playing in the big dance every year.
The very good chance of winning changes everything and trumps most things if you feel you can be a primary 4 yr contributor on a winning team.
With the development of Pickett and appearance of Mika having a very good 4yr contributor on a very good 3 guard line up that would put Siena as a favorite going into the MAAC for the next 3 yrs assuming everyone stays, Mika might be willing to overlook playing in away hs gyms as long as he knows he'll be playing in front of 7k plus at the TU and that Carm does his best to getting non conference games against P5 schools.
I would give Carm a 25%-50% chance. Go Saints!
