Here's the main problem - Siena's offense stinks- against Manhattan we scored 8 points the last 7 minutes we were lucky to hang on and win 51-49.
At Rider we didn't score a FG in the last 7:43 and only 7 points total.
At Iona we didn't score a FG in the last 4:39 and 2 points in the last 3 1/2 minutes.
Last night we scored one point in 8 minutes.
As our defense has gone up in KenPom, our offense (once top 150) has done way down. I get slowing down it was a great move by JC and staff and our defense has been very good. But offensively we are struggling badly especially late in games. Fisher is missing chippies .... defenses are all over Jalen. Degnan is hit or miss...people wonder why Sloan plays despite not rebounding/defending well he usually gives you 9-12 points a game and we need those.
Maybe (hopefully) last night was a wake up call we've been playing with fire for a while now. We simply have to score more points. Defense is only going to carry you so far.

Scoring more is going to win more games without question. Making the shots taken is the big thing for me, open looks underneath are missed opportunities, not rebounding well magnifies that. Just put those layups in. All the energy Camper and Smithen expel is wasted on a blown freaking layup. I’d like to trade 3 3 point attempts for letting Jalen manny or Kadeem attack the rim.

Jalen really isnt a person who attacks the rim. Camper can against certain defenders. Smithen tends to have control problems so he can be inconsistent.
next year the roster will have some folks who can do that.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but the 8 minute media timeout in the 2nd half didn't occur until about 4:15 remaining, that really gassed our guys that are already short handed.

Iona and Siena had six players logging a total of 192 minutes. Iona should have been just as gassed. Team lost focus when up by 13 and uncharacteristicly made a few bone headed plays. If you ask me they got a little too over confident. In addition we missed far too many shots in the paint! We should have won that game by 15.

I wasn't able to attend due to a prior commitment but was able to watch this morning...…………..I got that feeling that we were a tad "cocky", and it may have been based upon the recent string of wins, but not worried because at practice today they will all need to bring their lunch pails, JC will have them get back to work as next game is another challenge for sure...…………. lately, even within the first few minutes of games, Fisher is totally gassed, so I am not sure his conditioning is on par with what others did in the off season...………...sorry to knock him, but it is apparent, yet in his defense he is logging a ton of extra minutes each game...……………..

Watching Fisher the last 2 games has been especially frustrating. He is shooting 15-37 from the field and continues to have a terrible shot selection. He has the mindset of every time he touches the ball he needs to shoot. He should never be taking more than 10-12 shots a game. He missed a large number of open guys on the perimeter. Hopefully JC and the staff can get through to him that he doesn’t need to shoot every time he gets the ball. He was much better earlier in the season getting a couple assists a game and therefore helping to eliminate bad shots. Hopefully last night was a wake up call to the team after having their best stretch of basketball this season. I trust JC and the staff and believe he’ll have them ready for a nice bounce back on Sunday

Forgetting Carey for a moment- just with Richard and Burns Siena would be the clear favorites to win the conference. If both of those guys are playing I don't think it's crazy to think Siena is 11-2 in the MAAC right now. I agree we'll be ready to go on Sunday. But we have to play well and hope Quinny isn't on. It seems like we need close to a perfect storm to win sometimes.

Also I get that Sloan doesn’t have all the tools but as a one trick pony who occasionally makes some plays on defense he’s been solid. Since conference play began he’s shooting just under 45% from 3. I’d love to see him go in the lane some more so the defender will be in a bit of a guessing game as to what he’ll do. I believe he’s also 2 maybe 3 makes away from breaking Knapp’s freshman record

Iona’s Tim Cluess had a good game plan, he wanted ball out of Jalen’s hands ( he admitted in new Rochelle Jalen made all the plays to beat him) So as soon as Jalen got the ball the double team came, Jalen passed out of it, but Siena couldn’t take advantage ( too many role players) He also doubled and sometimes triple teamed Evan down low, in most cases Evan did not pass out of it and took a bad shot. Our lack of consistent 3rd and 4th scoring options hurt us last night we watched the two best coaches in the MAAC last night.

You have a 6 man rotation- Sloan and Degnan can't create their own shots and only shoot when wide open, Manny is a rebounder and defender who can't shoot from the outside and when he drive usually can't finish, Kadeem doesn't look to shoot and doesn't trust his shot and Jalen is usually double or triple teamed. So, Evan takes some ill advised shots because there are few B options with the shot clock running down. Does he make bad decisions at times- of course he does but I'm pretty sure that Coach is telling him he wants him to be aggressive and he completely trusts him because he knows that there is no plan b,c or d. The guy had 18 points- take his offense out of the equation and we'll be playing games in the 40's with over/under's set at 90.

Hard to rely on a guy making shots when he can’t make a layup and misses 6-8 shots 2 feet from the basket in ONE game

But, as has been mentioned in other posts, Jalen is often being guarded by two and sometimes three defenders. That severely limits his ability to get a decent look at the basket. Until he gets more offensive help, and the number of shot attempts is more evenly distributed, I don't see how Jalen will consistently lead the team in the number of shots.
