Current standings -
Monmouth 9-4 Canisius 8-4 Siena 8-4 Quinnipiac 7-4 Rider 7-5 Iona 6-6 Marist 5-7 Manhattan 5-7 Niagara 4-8 Fairfield 4-9 St. Peter's 3-8
Siena WILL own the tiebreaker on Rider, if tied head-to-head. Siena-Quinnipiac game will determine another tiebreaker since it is the only meeting. If Siena beats Iona on Wednesday they will win that tiebreaker. Siena can't beat Monmouth if tied head-to-head, a longshot tiebreaker they could win if a three way.
For the contenders (not going to count Marist/Manhattan at 5-7) the remaining schedules.
Siena remaining schedule- Iona, Quinnipiac, St. Peter's, Marist, @ Canisius, @ Niagara
Monmouth remaining schedule- at Rider, Marist, Canisius, Quinnipiac, at Manhattan
Canisius remaining schedule- Fairfield, Manhattan, at Monmouth, at Iona, Niagara, Siena
Quinnipiac remaining schedule - Rider, Marist, at Siena, Iona, at Monmouth, at St. Peter's, Manhattan
Rider remaining schedule - at Quinnipiac, Monmouth, at St. Peter's, Niagara, Iona, at Marist
Iona remaining schedule- at Siena, St. Peter's, at Quinnipiac, at Manhattan, Canisius, at Rider
Obviously you'd have to make Monmouth the favorite at this point considering they're a half game up, own the tiebreaker on Siena and have probably the most manageable schedule. Siena might have to go 5-1 to realistically finish 1st.
Just that I'm making this post shows how fun this year has been so far...let's keep it going. The team is only focused on Iona I'm sure but we can have a little fun and dare to dream!

The only thing we really know is fairfield will be eliminated if they lose at canisius or if Monmouth beats rider on Friday. Niagara and spu could also be eliminated if they lose one more and Monmouth wins one more. I think 12-6 will be good enough to win this year. So if Siena can go 4-2 (big if) realistically it will depend on which teams between Monmouth Quinny and canisius are with them.

Absolutely huge week coming up. If siena can hold home court vs Iona and Quinnipiac, they’ll likely be making the buffalo trip with first place on the line. I expect rider to best Monmouth this week.
One game at a time, Iona should be s great match up.

Pre-season who would have thought we be having this conversation today ... my greatest expectations have been exceeded ... what a ride. GO SAINTS!

The job that Jamion Christian and this staff are doing is the best we’ve seen since you know when - it might even be better. Let’s not forget that Fran had dominant talent (credit to his recruiting) every season but his first. Even his first season, hell, he had Scoop and Hasbrouck!
JC and staff have these guys looking really good. Let’s hope they can keep it rolling at home.

So easy to look at any team's remaining schedule and see at least 3 losses. Going to be very interesting. I will be thrilled with the 2 seed. The 1 seed gets all the pressure on them going into the tourney and will be an 8 seed playing on the road against a really good team in the NIT if they don't win the conference tourney. The 2 gets all the benefits of the 1 with less pressure and if they don't win the conference tourney can go to the CBI or CIT tournament where they could make a nice run. Obviously going to the NCAA even to a play in game is the #1 choice of everyone. Just not really sure that regular season champion and blown out in the NIT is any better than regular season runner up and winning some games in the CBI or CIT. Obviously, next year would be very different where we should have the firepower to have a shot to win games in the NIT.

If you set your sights low enough, you will find your target. BIG DANCE should be the goal.

As I always caution, set your sights on the next game and when that game is in the books, readjust your sights to the next game. Then the future takes care of itself. Most know what to do, but the wise know what to do next.

Not taking anything away from JC but I believe the MAAC’s RPI in 2005 was 12 making that 4th place finish after being picked last pretty special as well! No doubt JC and staff are the best we’ve seen in quite some time. Special days are ahead!

This is a pretty wild year for the MAAC:
In the KenPom era (so since 2002) the league has never been worse than 23rd (the 2006-07 season) and has been better than 20th 10 times. It's currently 28th.
In the past 10 years, the MAAC champion has had more than 3 losses just once, and that includes some 20-game season. This year, it appears the champion will have 5 or 6 losses (even possible it's a tie at 7 losses).
The MAAC has only had 5 years since 2002 in which the league's best team in KenPom was ranked higher than 100. Last year had the worst best team in Canisius at 131 in KenPom. As of now, there isn't even a team in the top 200 in KenPom in the MAAC! Rider is the highest at 211.
While the league has a lacked top-tier teams, it has had a ton of parity. 30% of the league's conference games have been decided by 4 points or overtime, and only 4.5% of the games have been what KenPom deems a "blowout": 19 points or greater. Those are the 4th-most close games nationally and the 2nd-fewest blowouts.
A slightly more random stat: over the last 5 seasons the MAAC has been one of the fastest-playing leagues in CBB. It ranked 1st in Tempo in 2013-14 and hadn't been slower than 11th out of 32 leagues in the last 5 seasons. This year, the league is 25th in tempo.

I agree that the job Fran did that first year was special, but he had much more to work with - Kenny, Antoine, Tay, Kojo and David Ryan (remember what a great job he did filling in for Haddix in the middle?).

Loving this year but when Jordan and David Ryan are your bigs, hard to say the talent level was high. Fran #1 remains the best coaching job I’ve ever seen. I should add that Ryan and Jordan remain 2 of my favorite all time Siena players.
