And when it comes time for the annual end-of-the-season awards dinner (which wasn't held last year), I hope that as many of us as possible will be at that event...........to thank Evan, Kevin and Kadeem, and to congratulate everyone on the team and on the coaching staff for what they've done this season, and to let them all know that they have our support next year and beyond. Good post S22 - I have no info on this at all but I'm willing to bet that this year's post-season awards dinner will not be held until we stop playing...JC doesn't strike me as one who would fete a team with work still to be done... Hopefully it’ll be some time in April.

Rider Game

The Rider game was another example of players playing their role but what I loved was how they were able to let KS shine on a night he was clearly up for. The team came out hot in the second half and kept grinding. Rider did what they needed to catch up twice but Rider could not find three players to out execute us. Three different times we turned to all five guys on the court to push back their runs. Truly a team effort. My sources tell me JC has them thinking about one day (not game) at a time. What do they need to do today to help the team. Clarification: one “play” at a time or on day? A day is longer than a game so it doesn’t make sense (at least to me). Or, is it taking one day at a time to get better type of thing? “My sources tell me JC has them thinking about one day (not game) at a time.”

Pondering HG's comment and negative inference on noting Evan shaking his head "no" and then going out and making things happen. I don't for a minute believe Evan is telling his HC "no" to something he has been told to do. There are many questions that a HC can ask where "no" is not a rejection of a "to do" statement, e.g., "do you need a two minute break" - "is the foot bothering/impacting you". Evan showed his leadership abilities years ago during his recruiting visit - nothing new there - always vocal - a coach's dream from that aspect. JC has fostered a total team concept and encouraged Evan to continue his leadership skills while at the same time ensuring that the rest of the team was comfortable with and benefiting from it. Evan's prior coaching experience at Siena was realized under an alpha dog HC who couldn't coach a lick and failed to put ANY of his players in positions where they AND THE TEAM could excel. This HC has great X's and O's abilities, great team building skills, and, exceptional confidence building schemes. MP I do not know why Evan is shaking his head no. I reiterate, EF is the very last player coach addresses directly at the end of a timeout. If he was asking, how is the foot, do you need a 2 minute blow, that would be in the first 5 seconds, not the last 5 seconds. It is my impression and OPINION that the few conversations where I saw EF shake his head "no" were related to QUESTIONS such as "do you think we can move the guys around to open up a lane, or open up a 3pt shot" MY IMPRESSION. I am watching on ESPN from 150 miles away. You guys who want to make JC the next JC are gonna do it no matter what. I have given him props. He has done a great job with a bunch of "lovable mutts". Yes, JP is a real talent, but the guy who runs the floor is still EF. You only need two open, unbiased eyes to see that. Yes JC can draw up "X's and O's" all day long if he knows what the guy down the other side of the court is going to come up with to counter (which he does not) so someone has to make the little adjustments on the floor for what they come out with. Hence #32.

Watching ESPN from 150 miles away could be the reason - I suggest getting closer to the screen...I will now end this little pointless discourse as I have to lay down palm fronds for the next game...

There is no doubt that Fisher is a leader for this team, both vocally and by example. It’s a big reason why JP was a big fan of his. He’s passionate, but also a very smart basketball player who understands the game at a high level. His leadership especially in all these close games matters.

I guess Evan should have been shaking his head a whole lot more last year, huh?
Evan is a critical cog because there is nobody that can replace his production currently, and also there is no other player other than Jalen that is an extension of the coach in the way that he is.

Unquestionably true - agree 100% - but even taking all of that into consideration - I doubt like hell that he would tell the HC that he disagrees with what was just called during the TO and then go out and do what he damn well pleases - I'm sure he's vocal in the TO and JC would welcome and encourage that - but in the big scheme of things the HC calls the plays, the PG executes them and the 5 directs traffic mostly on the defensive end based on what I've learned - now I may have missed something when out making popcorn...

ESPN announcers aren’t good but I couldn’t sit through a game there listening to Riders announcer. Awful just hearing him in the background. That guy may be the worst PA announcer in the country. He must be the AD’s brother-in-law or something like that. No other reason for him to still have that job. The sad part is he does announce games at the MAAC TOURNEY.
