It s cool. Took it out of context. General agree with your posts, peace Siena fans are awesome and resilient. Watching some bad hoops for years now in this league that, compared to other leagues, is getting less talent and worse by the year. We missed the A10 boat years ago with Fran. Ni excuse given our town, arena, and attendance. We have a coach who has already started turning around the last 8 years. Not sure what you expected in a new coach's first year after the cupboard was bare...after an 8 win season.

The league is turning into the America east. Not sure I’m following. Are you responding to your own post? If so, I think I’m lost, not able to follow what you’re trying to say (your response to your response).

I think it was pretty clear that early on JC thought he could get close to 60 points a game out of Pickett, Fisher, Seymour, and Degnan and Siena could play games into the 70s. As time has gone on and only Pickett has been producing consistently we've seen a shift to more minutes for Camper and Smithen with more emphasis on slowing it down and playing good defense. With 3 straight wins it sure seems like it is working. I will take a 53-40 win over a 100-87 loss any day.

Absolutely, and anyone who thinks otherwise is not a fan of Siena, just a fan of high scoring basketball.

Seeing them playing competitively, having fun, and winning has been great to watch.
What is painful is seeing them attempting to break the press. If anyone who follows this team drew up a game plan to beat them, pressing Siena all night would be a key. The past few games there really hasn't been an improvement, so I'm hoping JC and company start to figure out a way before conference tourney time.
Not an insult to the team, but it takes away at least 7 seconds from the shot clock every possession and is severely limiting our offense. If we get matched with Tennessee in March they'll certainly exploit that weakness 😉

I think for the most part yesterday we did a good job with the press-break. It slows us down which makes it a little tougher to run our sets but we only had 11 turnovers (Rider on average forces 17 a game). We had success using Camper & Degnan on the wings and Fisher in the middle near half court to break it. We will always have some bad turnovers against the press, that’s the reality of not having many ballhandlers and one of those being a freshman PG. But I thought for the most part we did a solid job.

Agree, they’ve been successfully breaking the press. They did turn over and get a rare 30 violation yesterday but figured it out. Also, regarding saintsgrad’s comment on pressing during the MAAC Tournament. Remember teams will need to play 3-4 games in a short period to win. If they want to press a slightly more “conditioned” team like Siena then bring it in and we’ll see who outlasts who. I’m betting in the other team getting gassed especially since our crowd will automatically energize the Saints during the game. We fans will act as the battery chargers for our team. Let’s Go Saints!!!

If we get matched with Tennessee in March they'll certainly exploit that weakness 😉 It is 12 games into the conference schedule, do you not think opposing MAAC coaches have not watched film on this team and have tried to identify their weaknesses? Not all teams are built to press, press consistently and press aggressively. Often attacking one's weakness, exposes your own. IMO when this team is a attempting to break the press they are not looking for an offensive opportunity, but rather to protect the ball and limit turnovers, one thing we should all be able to agree on that they've done well this year. No team in this league is heads above another, if someone is going to press this team for 40 minutes, it will be the result of pure desperation or else it would have been done already. If we a lucky enough to play any team in March on the big stage then I'll gladly take that and 20+ turnover from our "poor" press break

Let’s Go Saints!!! Exactly, press us at your peril. There is a reason why teams haven’t pressed us for 40 minutes. That, and it helps our offense get easier shots at times as well as potentially create foul trouble for the opposition.

My point wasn't that we were committing too many turnovers (and I won't use the one 10 second violation or the missed call on one) it's that while our defense is superb, our offense is in fact struggling. A lot of that is obviously the style of play slowing down the game, but if the offense sets up say 3.5-4 seconds quicker each possession, it would translate to more opportunities and more points.
JC has done an awesome coaching job with the turnaround we've had, but if we can start scoring as little as 5 points more a game, we have a chance to get that 1 seed and make a run in the tournament.

If there are any other suggestions to get some more scoring without altering our style of play, shoot away. The game plans and adjustments have been great, it just seems that if our offense takes a step forward and our defense keeps up, we might be the team to beat in the maac. Who'd ever guess that entering this year?
