Looks like Rider, Iona and quinny will be top 3. Next tier CC,SPU,and FF. Only one of those three will make the top three by the end of the year. Man, was I wrong. I really thought only Rider would have ended the regular season in the top three. I realize it’s not the end of the season yet but the way Rider is free falling and the way a 1-12 Monmouth has surged into first place. It’s any or every teams’ chance to win this league (except I really don’t think St Peter’s, Fairfield, Niagara, Manhattan or Marist have a shot). I think it’s more of a five team race (not sure Iona can win it either based on their remaining schedule).

As we all have come to learn, Papi, the great handicapper, is greatly handicapped...

Monmouth still 7th in the net rankings among maac teams. If they don’t start losing soon it’s time to seriously question the formula and validity.

Why should we be “handicapping the MAAC”? Isn’t the MAAC already handicapped this season but being ranked 28th. I say stop handicapping the MAAC even more this year.

Congratulations to Ensor the maac is now the most even Steven in the country from top to bottom, beating out all conferences despite playing more games than most of them. Everyone’s a winner, yippee!

Don't throw stones in glass houses. We've stunk for close to 10 years, after a few 20-0 seasons in the MAAC we can call out the league. That being said, Ensor is still an idiot for caving and not having the MAAC Tourney in the only place that draws every single year.

How many coaches of the other schools in the league do you think told their presidents (who make all of the final decisions concerning the MAAC) to move the tournament to a neutral site? Maybe all of them? And the MAAC does not draw well in Albany "every single year". The tournament draws well in Albany only when Siena wins games. When they don't, the TUC is a dead zone (and not the fabled Dead Zone of the past).

We can't throw stones true but you have to question the commitment of some MAAC schools. Niagara cheapens out and lets their coach go to Hofstra. They make a bad hire and give him a contract extension. Fairfield has given their coach also ridiculous extensions - he's now there for 8 years. St. Peter's lost their coach to a fellow MAAC program. I see commitment at Siena, Iona, Quinnipiac, Monmouth and Manhattan (Masiello should be gone). Marist I don't know they let Brady leave for James Madison and have been brutal since. Dunne will at least make them competitive. Canisius has been competitive the last few years so I give them credit for that. Rider is Rider - bad facilities but again they usually never kill your RPI. I'd like to see the MAAC either go back to 10 or expand to 12. 11 is an odd number. If you expand (nobody is going to be forced out) by one - schools to recruit would be Hofstra, Vermont and maybe Robert Morris.

The maac tourney sites the good teams playing the bad teams only once, etc. well now he (and/or pres) has done it. All the teams have almost identical records.

Serious question: is it just the MAAC? or other than the blue bloods is there more parity all the way around. Calling all statistically analytical minds here to chime in.

Calling all statistically analytical minds here to chime in. Missouri Valley and Northeast standings are the only ones that look at all like the MAAC. All other conferences have at least one team with 4 conference losses or less. Going by the Sagarin the 100th ranked team would be favored by about 14 points over the 300th ranked team, in 2014 it would be about a 15 point spread so pretty similar.
