If another scholarship is available and Carm sees a need for a long, big man, why didn’t he use the portal to get one???

Maybe he tried but either couldn’t find the right player or when he did find a player they opted for a different school? Also, there’s no guarantee we’ll even get this kid; GM and FAU involved (that’s assuming he doesn’t have the promise from a big time school to do a year of prep). I like the HS talent level Carm’s going after.

Just waiting for the “It’s a great day to be a Saint” post from Carm. ;-)

Well Kalu wants to visit first before committing anywhere. Since from 7/5-7/31 is a dead period for recruiting nothing is going to happen until August or September. Let's hope for the best. I think a shot blocking/defensive big is needed. This guy fits the bill and runs the floor and dunks everything. What is there not to like?

Part of recruiting is knowing who is actually making the decision… sometimes it’s the AAU coach more so than the kid 😉

The kid and his family should be making a final decision, maybe with some input for others involved with the young man, but the final decision should be no one else’s other than the kid himself.

Actually I was “liking” Bill’s comment that he’s optimistically witching for Carm’s It’s Great To Be A Saint comment (which usually is accompanied by a new recruit. Just to clarify, he said he hasn’t spoken “much” with Carm. I sort of read that as he’s spoken with him but not as much as Carm has spoken to his AAU coach. In any case here’s hoping we can land him. “ Kalu said he hasn’t spoken much with Maciariello, but “he’s been talking to my AAU coach. He’s the one that’s helping me make the decision.” “

Still over 31% of those who entered in the portal are without a home and a lot of the "signings" are to JUCO, NAIA or D II and D III. Still a lot of time, but I think a lot of them will face the reality that the grass is not always greener. Another three weeks passes and the % is still 30.6 without a home. (526/1718) And more kids are entering daily. And of those who did get picked up about 250 are going non DI. ( D II, DIII, NAIA and JUCO) That another 14%.

Still over 27% unsigned as of a week ago, with majority of signings to Non DI schools. It's getting late, only a few more weeks to find a spot with a ever shrinking pool of landing locations. This in it self will likely reduce the number of players wanting to risk transferring in the future.

Don’t know if I care about the qty just the 1 or 2 young key guys on your roster that start seeing the bright lights! It’s so easy to move without penalty, it won’t take much to lure young talent away.
