Wednesday at 3? Why not 3:30? He’ll likely do it at school and have to time it accordingly.

Fairfield made Gray's final 4 before even seeing it. And 3 of the final 4 are close to home, so distance may be a priority. Iona and Fordham are also close, but they may be a little too close - and both came to the party rather late. So if distance matters, I think we'll get him.
The fact that he's tweeting he will announce next week during his visit at Fairfield suggests to me that his mind was made up before he went on that visit. I still think it's down to Siena or Bonaventure. The winner will depend on his priorities - playing at the highest level with former PSA teammates, or the best available combination of location and facilities. Both offer the small school family atmosphere a lot of these guys cite as reasons they chose Siena, so that will not be an advantage for us this time.
I gotta say that win or lose, I enjoy being in these recruiting battles with programs from top conferences for strong mid-major recruits. We'll win some and lose some, and that's okay. With the prior staff there was usually little anticipation of whether we'd get the commitment or not because Siena was often the sole division 1 offer.

Most of Mason's offers are from 2017 and 2018, so they are likely off the table. Of the half dozen or so that came within this year, the only one from a high major is from Kansas State, but that was in February so it's probably no longer valid either. Looks like he's fallen to the mid-major ranks. Which is good for us.
I wouldn't read anything into our chances with Gray because of this offer. They have dozens of offers out to 2020 players - this is just one more. It would be foolish to put all your eggs into one basket. Recruiting never stops while you wait for an answer from offered recruits.

I would assume there was some level of interest from Mason, and small opportunity to sign him, or we wouldn’t have bothered. And after watching that video who cares why. While there is a BIG gap, he reminds me a little of RJ Barrett, with his ability to drive the ball, leaping ability, and being left handed. It’s just good to see us even competing for this kind of kid.

youtu.be/z_wcqFJOVAMHe just might make me forget about MG pretty quickly. 😉 Athleticism, gets to the hoop and has size. Looks like an outstanding MAAC prospect. Kid fits Carm’s system and looks explosive going to the hoop. What’s not to like here?

I’m not sure you count on either being shooters, but Mason is 6-6/6-7 and Gray is 6-4. They seem pretty similar to one another.

Looks like a 50%!ft shooter Only you could find fault with a kid with this kind of length, quickness and elite athleticism. Especially at the MAAC level. Sometimes you just need to put the abacus and accountant’s visor away😜and use your eyes. Look this is the MAAC - mid major (with a grain of salt) basketball. We aren’t recruiting RJ Barrett to Duke. If this kid checked every stat box you track he’d be gone to a BCS program. The fact he’s dropped a bit is a huge bonus for a program like ours. He would be a terrific get. As far as I’m concerned (eye-test) he’s not all that different from Gray. In fact he adds more size! Hell I hope we get both. I’m just happy we’re in with kids like Gray Mason Carpenter Harris etc... and our recruiting has taken a giant leap forward, the effort the staff has put in is a big difference from what we’ve seen over the past decade.

We are getting way too spoiled and critical. The staff signed the first 3 kids in the class to take official visits. They may even sign the fourth and last kid to take one. We will find out this week. If not there are a few kids this fall we still have a shot at but unless a difference maker wants to commit we probably wait until the spring. We are going to be pretty good this year and crowds should be good and with three games over the holidays I bet we have a bunch of good visitors for the class of 21 and 22 and a few from 20.
Getting kids to a game will be huge for recruiting as attendance has to go up between 5% -7% and if we play fast the crowds will be into it. Kids will want to come here if we win and play like that. Getting 3 verbals out of 3 visitors that early on the cycle is a big win for a new staff and let’s not lose sight of that.

I’d really like to have a special 4-man class come in next year.
