Also, based on this list...we were the first of these schools to offer him. Maybe that helps too.
I have to assume he's our number 1 target.

If they get him, I'd have to imagine that they then prioritize a defensive big man. If you have those 4 guards plus Camper, Ratliff, and Sutherland...you're probably pretty set at 1-4. It's the 5 that becomes the number one question.
Friday can be good but not sure he could last all year or be well-rounded enough. He'd need help. Young is not as athletic and unproven. They need a 3rd option bad.
Then if Darwiche decides he'll never play again and leaves in the spring, you'd have 1 or 2 (depending on King) to use on any perceived weakness...like another Forward or a young, under recruited guard for depth.
You have to go all out for last 2 years of Pickett and Carey.

It would seem to me that we wouldn’t offer like 15 wings if we weren’t looking for a wing in this class. I’d guess we’d either go Carpenter and an undersized scoring guard or Carpenter and a true wing.

I’d guess we’d either go Carpenter and an undersized scoring guard or Carpenter and a true wing. I love guards. I really do. And they could probably just absolutely dominate the MAAC in guard play if they did that. However, if Harris is good and Carpenter is good....you'd have 4 plus Camper and Ratliff. That's already enough to perhaps dominate the backcourt. 4 potential all-around guards, plus 2 likely solid role players.
Center would clearly be the weak link then. We don't have an athletic shotblocker/rebounder in there. Get that now...you can always find a bench guard piece later in the year. They're everywhere.
However, the only argument that can be made is that by recruiting a guard now you can sell them on more because the team is less proven in the backcourt than it would be in the spring...and then maybe you can not only have a better guard but land a grad transfer big in the late period with your final ship when you maybe can sell a championship run.

Jalen could go pro early. Don could grad transfer in 2 years. You just recruited a 5 man in 2019 and you’ll have a 5th year guy already there. Plus I know Golson can play some 5 from what I’ve been told. Give me another 6-5/6-6 wing athlete and go from there. If you need to, you can always take a grad big in the spring. Also, based on the offers we have out there it seems to me we’ve accounted for bigs for the early period and have a million guards and wings we still like. now, if Carm goes through a season with Young and doesn’t think he’s that good, then he can decide to go get another 5 in the spring. But you don’t write off an average-level MAAC recruit by recruiting over him before he plays a game, IMO. Especially when you have a 5th year guy already in place who can play minutes and likely have spots in the late period.

Don’t forget Colin will be here next year too....

Well, that article makes Siena seem like the slight favorite. He says good things about them all but Siena is the only jersey he mentions...and it’s tough to argue with “like everything about Siena”.
He seems fearless from a PT perspective and seems more focused on style and development. I assume he understands what he could accomplish with Pickett and Carey...2 guys who who are a lot like him in a style meant to feature them all.
