Wyland may have opened himself to lawsuit. If Watson didntvdo this, severe harm has come to his future coaching aspirations. For Wyland to name or call out the assistant coach, his source or, hopefully sources on this matter, had to be correct. Wyland doesn't care that he burned Watson, who supposedly was leaking to other media outlets, namely Ch. 10, but not Channel 13. He was also probably pissed that the school was leaking info to the TU as it attempted to force Patsos to resign. It is more than coincidental that these stories about improper conduct broke all at once. Once the school decided it wanted a new coach all of Patsos' warts were leaked through intermediaries in an attempt to force Pastos to resign because the school did not want to have to come up with $1 million to settle the contract. The school couldn't afford the complete buyout, so it attempted to embarrass and dirty-up Patsos to force him to resign and accept roughly one-third of what he was owed. As far as Wyland being ethical, yeah right. His career for the past two decades has been a conflict of interest. He's paid by a local media company to cover local sports, but is also allowed to be a paid employee of one of the college's he covers. How this has been allowed for so long boggles my mind. Ch. 13 must overlook the conflict because of the scoops he's provided by UAlbany. Talk about being desperate! Such is life in SmAlbany, where Siena plays its home games in a building where the largest paper in the area has naming rights. The TU is complicit and looks the other way, too, when it comes to this matter. It gives Wyland space everyday in its sports section. Wyland working for Ch. 13 and being a paid employee of UAlbany would be like Warner Wolfe working for CBS-New York and being on the Yankees payroll. It would never happen in New York. It should not happen in Albany.

Like Michael Kay being employed by ESPN radio, while also being employed by the Yankees?

Fran McCaffery was a class act! And the Wylands treated him and his wife like crap! For what ..attention?! Give me a break! Yes his wife was a class act... Especially when he had to yell at her to sit her ass down. They were both a borderline embarrassment. In the stands and sometimes on the court. Both unhinged often. He and that wife were many things... But class act? Lol... "Marg, that's enough" mobile.nytimes.com/2008/03/09/sports/ncaabasketball/09maac.html Still here, Click? Can’t imagine why. Sorry if Fran’s and Margaret’s competitiveness and intensity are a concern for you. I can’t put myself in Margaret’s position, and I doubt that you can, too, but I think we can both understand how hard it is for a coach’s wife to sit through thirty or so games a season when each play, officials’ calls/non-calls, turnovers, etc. have an impact on the husband’s job and livelihood. There is a tremendous amount of pressure, all played out in public in front of large crowds. Not an easy proposition by any means. Check with the players who have been involved with Fran and Margaret on a day-to-day basis throughout their college careers, and ask what those players think of their coach and his wife. Those players are treated as family, and Fran and Margaret are still in constant touch with players they were involved with dating back to Fran’s days at Lehigh. I’m sure you remember legendary Albany State coach Dick Sauers. Ever sit near his wife at a game? She would make all other coaches’ wives look like Girl Scouts.

Like Michael Kay being employed by ESPN radio, while also being employed by the Yankees? Kay isnt a Yankee employee. He’s employed by Fox as they bought 80% of Yes Network and they share his radio rights with ESPN. Same with A-ROD who does Sunday night baseball for ESPN and is doing playoff baseball for Fox

The Yankees own 20% of the YES network, and have authority over the teams broadcasters conflict of interest is rampant in the media.

Click - I've only been to one game on your campus and my overpriced seat was in the top row; I was so negatively absorbed by how my Saints were playing (read that as NOT playing) that I wasn't able to "appreciate" or analyze your fans. Given that, I assume that you have your share of crazies and vocal FANatics scattered throughout the arena. We certainly do at the TUC. Your comment about Margaret has been offered by others - usually those who support schools that Fran & Co. routinely handled. Her being singled out is a measure of your frustration and facilitated by her well known identity and relationship to the team. A comment about Fan X being told by a coach to be quiet would have died on an editor's desk. I recall a game at Vermont years and years ago where our HC, on his way to the lockerroom at halftime, singled out one of our fans with the very memorable "I'll do the coaching, you stick to being a fan!" comment that would have made great story material had that fan been someone of note. That fan didn't utter a peep during the balance of that game. Siena was fortunate to have Margaret as their team mother - our last two coaches did not go in that direction and there were many chemistry issues that just might have been fixed had those involved been able to sample some of Margaret's cookies in the comfort and shelter of their home - seeing their head coach up close and personal in a family setting. Fran telling her to be quiet was probably just as effective as a deliberate T - the kids knew she had their back as well as her husband's...

Bahaha sour grapes from a UA fan because Fran beat his UA team like a drum Don't be stupid Tony...you and I both know they were nuts. Winner but nuts.. really-- you come to the Siena board post derogatory info on Fran and his wife 8 years after he is gone and then get into name calling-- stupid really.. Not even sure why you are in this thread other than fact of your bitter memories how Fran dominated the team you support- really weak on your part
