Pitino is as professional as Fran. Even more successful than Fran. You can guarantee that respect and fear of Siena basketball would be restored instantaneously You're going to have to define the term "professional" if you're going to use it to link Fran and Pitino in the same sentence. Fran deserves better than that. You may be right that Siena basketball would be "feared" if Mr. Pitino were to be hired as the next coach, but I'm not too sure about that "respect" part. The school's self-respect might be lost, as well. Spot on.

HOW much respect have we had in the past 5 years Winning by selling the college's "soul" does not equate respect. Personally, I'd prefer to root for a team that does things the right way and succeeds than one that has to make a deal with the devil.

Where is th24 with today's drama review? As to your last point - Siena just made a deal with the devil and that deal was met with applause from the vast majority of our fan base.

Guys, PLEASE put yourself in Pitinos situation yesterday as a MM newspaper reporter reaches out to you and says, "Hi HOF coach, is it true you reached out to the 8-24 Siena Saints about becoming the next coach in Loudonville?" WHY would he set himself up for that embarrassment of probably getting TURNED DOWN by, lets face it, a MM in the toilet? I wish Valente never went public (I'm sure Pitino does also), and the level of interest from both sides could have been confidential in the initial stages.
In a nutshell, IF Siena sat down privately with him for an afternoon, and interest from the school accelerated, RP doesnt deny the MUTUAL interest. So we've got a case of "Show me yours, and I'll show you mine."

Pitino is everything that is wrong with College Sports all wrapped into one. He and his programs have been immersed in 3 high profile scandals over the last 10 years that run the full gamut from a lack of moral character to a lack of institutional control to partnering with sneaker programs and AAU coaches to pay players to come to Louisville. And that is just what has come out. He was fired from his last program because he was found to be a key individual in an FBI probe and had a National Championship vacated. He blamed an assistant coach for having strippers and prostitutes into the team dorms during recruiting visits and then stated he knew nothing about it. So, yeah, hiring Pitino would be a step towards Siena selling it soul.

Since you brought religion into the argument - the church closed Limbo, not Purgatory - that "state" is representative of "forgiveness" - you may be mixing the two up...

We get it he did wrong, but more importantly, got targeted and caught. You think Roy Williams isn't dirty? Boeheim? Bill Self? Pleaseeeeeee

And if Siena hires another coach who,is a F up, a Mitch, JP, Orr, Lanier whoever you’ll bitch about them also. At least if we have a known quality and he wins, you can bitch about a winner.

I rarely bitch about the coaching but if Pitino is hired, I'll be done as a Siena fan. No big loss, I know.

Didn't go through this thread much, but would rather they close up shop or go D2 then even entertain thoughts of Pitino... not that the school is in any position to extend a contract to him.

It’s a debate and can agree to disagree. Reality, 95% not going to happen. Keep posting.
