What was your most disappointing season? Not the worst. One choice from each coach since Deane is presented. Add your explanations here and bring up other years if necessary.

Loss to Perdue...up by 5 with minutes to go...sweet 16 knocking on the door... Are you talking about Fran's game vs Louisville - no recollection of us vs Perdue in the NCAA's? ??

2009-2010??? Team won 27 games and made the NCAA's....but I guess if you thought it was a sweet 16 team I could see it.
Mine was 1999-2000 - Paul Hewitt's last year....losing as a favorite at home to Iona in the MAAC title game still burns me.

Had three point half time lead but was down 15 in second half before cutting it to 3 late. A disappointment only in the sense that if Jackson wasn’t hurt they might have won their third straight round of 32 NCAA tourney game and of course was the last big time Siena game played to date.

My choice is not here. I go with Patsos' post CBI season.
Yes, last year the team underperformed. But 14-15 was returning a team (including Marquis, Poole, Bisping, JO, Lavon and Oliver) that had been playing their best basketball as they ended the season with the CBI championship. It was all looking up for the following year. This team had the most overall talent of any of Jimmy's teams at Siena. There was no reason NOT to be optimistic.
Brett goes down, Rob and Lavon hobbled, team chemistry goes to shit with Pat Cole used as the scapegoat perhaps.
That should have been a championship year, really. That SHOULD have been the one.

for me, it all goes back to the announcement of Mitch Buonaguro as being interviewed. I was livid. All that has happened since was like a premonition or better yet, a nightmare for me. It still goes down as the single most pivotal moment in program history. I actually have hatred for those who made that decision. You sirs... are f*king idiots.

The game you reference was a first round game - had we beaten Purdue, we would have drawn Texas A&M in the Round of 32 - his reference to being so close to the Sweet Sixteen threw me a curve ball...I was having a little fun as I still maintain we never played "Perdue" in the NCAA's - guess that attempt failed...

This season! I've never been depressed like I am this year. So true, so very true - So-so has, through his own ineptitude and malfeasance with Siena's support, ripped my passion for D1 hoop right out of my heart - first time EVER that I have ZERO, zip, nada desire to watch the Tournament Selection Show, let alone watch other teams play on that stage. I guarantee the PIG games will produce more entertaining games than a So-so best (if there is such a thing)...the only thing I'm looking forward to re Siena basketball is the plea to renew which, if So-so is still on staff when the fetid odor of this season finally dissipates, will be "returned to sender"!

Excellent post. My thinking was the injuries made it plausible but you are right it was still disappointing. I also considered using this season with the 8 wins and still not getting fired but figured everyone would choose it. I guess it was too hard to choose only one of the patsos seasons what was I thinking.

His very first game (home loss to vermont) i left with the sinking realization that I was going to be absolutely right —- that was not a fun night.

I figured as much and do believe sky was confused so I wanted to clarify for everyone’s benefit. Its hard to choose a fran season as a disappointment but I went with the last season since it ended with the inevitable yet depressing news of frans departure.

Lot of short memories here. That 2010-2011 team was preseason pick to finish 2nd narrowly beaten out for first by Fairfield 96 votes to 91. In addition to Rossiter and Jackson as seniors you had the savior freshman duo of Cheech and Chong coming in, our Seton Hall transfer big man that was a sure thing in the MAAC, upcoming sophomores Anosike, Martens, and Breeden, and nice role players as juniors in Wignot and Downey. Expectations were sky high that they would make it four in a row, land another big recruiting class, and it would be on to the A10. Every year after year one of the Patsos era was a massive disappointment but no single year was even in the same ballpark as the level of disappointment when that 2010-2011 team tanked.
