If you have to hire a professional firm (50-100k) to make a list of names to call, you need a new AD. Just think if we had paid the 100k before the JP hire...there is a reason these firms exist... I’m not debating you there; I’m saying if an AD can’t put together a list of good names (seemingly D’Arg can’t) you need a new AD.

When Siena switched from D2 to D1 Kirch was our coach...I think he realized he was in over his head and stepped aside...i think our current AD is also in over his head and has been for a while....imo he needs to do some soul searching...but the fact remains...he is NOT the decision maker and his recomendations mean little...

Email I got from a trustee recently: the only thing I can say is that we are truly working on the situation. I will let you know if there are any developments over the next few weeks. Wow, that really says a lot. Can you enlighten us to what the trustee was addressing with that vague statement? I'm still trying to figure out why a trustee would answer him???

Especially after the Classic posting of John Murry’s Email last year. You would think BOT orientation would have a chapter on MTS and avoiding his emails and texts

I would guess Fran interviewed VERY well. Fran was outstanding during the interview process. I know that, after he left the interview in which I participated, several of us just looked at each other and smiled. You’ve all seen him respond to questions. There is no uncertainty. He gives complete, thoughtful and in-depth answers. I asked him three questions during the session I was in (there were about a dozen people at that interview, most asking questions, and there were a number of interviews with different groups over a couple of days). About three years after he was hired here, we were talking about the interview process he and some other candidates went through here. He told me the three questions I had asked him, and told me the answers he gave me. I couldn’t believe it. What impressed me most was the fact that you remembered what you asked him - him not so much, Fran had a mind like a steel trap....

If you still have any pull at Siena, can you suggest a similar process for the next hire, whenever that may be.

It was a committee compromised of trustees, boosters, and administration personnel. A friend of mine was one of them. I remember him saying his gut told him Fran was the one right after he interviewed him. I would guess Fran interviewed VERY well. It's funny you say that. I remember telling him they were making a mistake because of his then. 500 career coaching record. I wasn't happy they were going to recommend him to the president. But they saw something beyond what was on paper. Now I hope a similar group is convened next time around. For the record, D'Arg was a member of that committee. So as much as gets bashed here, he gets credit for Fran too.

Just think if we had paid the 100k before the JP hire...there is a reason these firms exist... Sounds like the process utilized to select Fran wasn’t followed for either the Mitch or Patsos hirings. Both seemed to be predetermined. I don’t think the Patsos interviews were anything but a formality. Correct me if I’m wrong. I don't know who made the decisions on those two, but it was not by a similar committee.

The thing that people fail to understand was that the record included two championships with different schools, both within three years of hire. I was thrilled with the choice at the time.

He and I chatted once at Northway 8 Golf - just ran into each other. I walked away so impressed - he was genuinely interested in me as a Siena fan.
