let's make this easier........... Beyer - awful Lanier - over his head Mitch - disaster Patsos - dumpster fire In the case of Byer and Lanier, I think they were both too young and inexperienced at the time to handle being the HC. Both have gone on to have very good and lucrative careers. Mitch is back doing what he is best at, being an assistant. Will be interesting to see where Patsos goes from here. Because whatever he does he will no longer be the head honcho. How will his oversized ego handle that? Many have said TV. Maybe as a color commentator on ESPN3 broadcasts, but do not see him as a studio guy on the big networks. Not enough national fame and his coaching resume is not very good. totally disagree, he is really well known and mentioned many times..........sometimes you can't believe they make a reference to him, it takes you by surprise...........he would be a natural fit behind any microphone and/or camera, no matter what network...........

I actually did not think he was very good when he is on the NCAA broadcast least year. Time will tell if you or I are correct on this, because I think JP's coaching days are numbered. At least for the sake of the Saints program I hope they are.

He'd be a good talking head for halftimes...rambles too much for color in the booth - sort of like a Bobby Knight but different in that Knight had winning coaching credentials - stunk in that role

As previously stated, I did not think he was very good when he was in studio last year during NCAA's. Too much name dropping, rambling, repeating himself, etc. Wait sounds like one of his post game press conferences. Maybe he can improve his TV skills with some practice and coaching? Wait, how funny is that? Wonder if he will like being screamed at, spit on and yanked from broadcast when he screws up? Karma, what comes around, goes around.

A member of media reports (outside of Albany) have Jimmy on the HOT seat!! The seat is so hot, the non-sweat resistant Mark Thomas suit and sponge shirt visibly shows the sweat pattern terminating as it extends toward his posterior where it disappears as the seat heat does its thing....

A member of media reports (outside of Albany) have Jimmy on the HOT seat!! This isn't necessarily news... anyone could speculate with a 7 win team, that they coach is on the hot seat (at any school) I don't know what is true, what isn't true and all the BS that seems to be going on behind the scenes (allegedly), but if it is even half as bad as it appears to be, a full purge is needed... because the SECOND JP gets canned, whatever he hasn't said, which has to be hard for him, will come out... Maybe not publicly, but coaches talk and if any of this "control" if you can call it that, from the admin is true, Siena's HC spot will take a hit as far as a job anyone wants.... Head coaches by nature are authoritarian, ego driven and self-starters. They don't want, or need, an AD hanging over them, esp one of D'arg's wishy-washy demeanor..... When Fran was here, he ran the team like his own business, no one really told him what to do. He certainly rubbed some others within the athletic department the wrong way, but he usually got what he wanted, or what his team needed. Fast forward to now, where a picture is being painted of a coach, who lacks impulse control, so the admin has now taken steps to control parts of the program.... and keep in mind this is the SAME COACH THEY EXTENDED TWICE FOR NO PARTICULAR REASON. It isn't a good look for anyone involved... unless they truly don't care, then, well, carry on to the abyss of D1 hoops.

While Patsos may not be as bad a coach as Lanier, Beyer or Mitch was keeping him around beyond this season will officially signal that Siena is deemphasizing basketball. Patsos will damage this program more than his three fired predecessors would have.

MTS; in all fairness, the changes between the Beyer, Lanier and yes, even Mitch years in social media and media coverage in general, along with the fact that fans are very much in the 'here and now' make this one feel much worse than those precedents. HOWEVER, that is no excuse for the debacle that has become. BTW; love the new signature line!

Don't have any input on the current rumors that D'Arg, the VP, is calling so-so's shots - I do recall when D'Arg moved from SID to AD when Mike Deane still was King of Siena, Mike still ran the show. When Mike departed, D'Arg immediately took the control of the men's program that one would have thought he had when he took the AD job. I was very involved with the Annual Dinner and when Mike was here, it was his show. When Mike left, Bob had little involvement - it became D'Arg's show and I was told, the following year, that D'Arg 'expected' my services - that was the last dinner I had anything to do with. I can believe that D'Arg could strong arm so-so - easier than having to show him the door and go through another hiring fiasco....
