I liked this post because my guess is that it represents reality, not because I wish it to happen. I don't think people know how bad Siena is going to take it if they bring this guy back. This is a horror show - next year could be the end of the program as we know it. The program needs a tourniquet now - it's bleeding to death. Such hyperbole. Lol.

Although I agree with you on this MTS, I think JP is owed a lot of coin and that fact can’t be brushed aside. Either way the decision to let him go or stay is expensive.

Does anyone know the agreement between Siena and the TUC. if the arena is losing money because of a lack of concession sales that could be a big influence..2000 hot dogs and 2000 beers per game does add up.....i'm sure the businesses around the TUC are not happy...

Based on the pricing the concession stand seems to have no real interest in selling beers.

The CBI was nice and all but they came in 5th with a quick MAAC tourney exit. You don't extend based on that...when you still had 3 or 4 more years already on the contract. Give the guy a bonus, fine. Don't extend that early.

If they just stuck to the original contract - he's a free agent now and he's 1000% toast. Even if they just gave up the one year after the CBI - he's only 1 year left easy to buyout. But the two year extension after going 21-13.... I believe his agent was hinting he was going to interview for the James Madison job. Then there was the Texas Tech nonsense - once again D'Arg got played like a fiddle and gave up two more years (though rumor is only one was guaranteed). Remember Siena DID NOT even extend Fran McCaffery after he beat Vanderbilt! They waited until he beat Ohio State! And he only three years left after the Vandy win I believe. Now supposedly he has three years left but only two guaranteed of salary. Siena just has to swallow it and be done with it. Now we're seeing why D'Arm might be "retiring" he really screwed the pooch handling Patsos contract. It's really pathetic for a so-called business school!

But Siena's never been down this long (at least in their D1 history). The seniors in HS now we're in 4th grade the last time we made the NCAA tournament. The next guy better be one hell of a recruiter and have some luck (as Fran did with Kenny Hasbrouck). It feels like the lowest point we've been certainly since I've been a Siena fan. This is perhaps the least talented team in Siena D1 history. We don't even know for sure if JP will be gone (as he should be in 5 weeks). We knew that Lanier and Mitch were toast and a new coach was coming. Now we have to cross our fingers that this buyout isn't a deal-breaker and that Siena hires a good coach after whiffing on 3 of the last 4. But if we get a new AD and new HC and start signing some good MAAC talent the optimism will return quickly. But if nothing changes I fear the program will just continue to go into the abyss and as the years add up, especially with your program growing, it will be that much more difficult to come out of it. And this is coming from a very optimistic fan.

The ad is retiring, according to some a big part of the equation. Let’s see if the one coming in is better than the outgoing one we had with 30 years experience at Siena and part of the greatest runs in Siena history. I think it’s pretty likely patsos will be back at least one more year but there will be an ad search to give the fans hope for the athletic department.

Least talent in the D1 era? I am not putting anyone down. I loved those teams in the late 70's. This team has more potential and raw talent than those teams did.

Sent from my SM-G935P using proboards Which is true across the board on all D1, D2, etc., teams - relatively speaking, we aren't where we used to be and no where near where we want to be...

He's also going to the AD who saw four coaches get fired (eventually) Beyer, Lanier, Buonaguro, Patsos plus one guy (Orr) who never wanted to be here. That said I prefer D'Arg stay another year and JP go if he can only get rid of one now. Hard to look at JP for another terrible year.
