Monday night SPU = small crowd, low scoring, another nail in the coffin. Things must be getting real bad. Even Papi's losing his patience.

Looking at the Siena record book...
The 4 worst scoring performances were:
23 vs. Bonnies in 1942 (old era doesn't really count) 39 at. Manhattan in 1997 (Away) 40 vs. St. Johns in 1983 (Home) 40 at Manhattan in 1996 (Away)
I'm just throwing them out there early for reference.

Do I expect the offense to really do a whole lot tonight? No, but it's a game that we can definitely win and could maybe get a bit of a win streak going. I get last year we had 4 seniors and Nico but the 2 point home win against St. Peter's is when the team started rolling. Hopefully this is the case once again so we can get back to middle of the pack or maybe by some miracle get a first round bye. Definitely going to be tough but not impossible

With all due respect, we no longer have 4 seniors (don't know if we will ever see that again) and yeah, not only no Nico but possibly no Richard and no Horn??? This might set a record for under 40 points. Yep, another notch on JPs belt...just like holding Steph Curry scoreless Perhaps some day we will set records for putting the ball through the basket more frequently than our opponents on a regular basis.

Hopefully this is the case once again so we can get back to middle of the pack or maybe by some miracle get a first round bye. Definitely going to be tough but not impossible According to Kenpom, St. Peter's has the best defense in the league. Do you know where they struggle? They put teams on the FT line too much. Do you know what they're best at? Forcing turnovers. Where does Siena struggle? They don't get to the FT line and they turn it over a lot. We're SPU's perfect match up for their D. Dunne doubles down on post feeds better than any coach in the MAAC. Look for Oduro to have a lot of turnovers. And since we'll be even more reliant on Shivers....turnovers could really get out of hand. While it may not be 25 turnovers like vs. Manhattan because SPU also plays the slowest tempo... the slower game speed, turnovers, lack of 3 pt scorers, Dunne's ability to double down on bigs, and Siena's relative lack of offensive flow could set this one up for a a perfect storm that could potentially have Siena flirting with some of those low scoring records. Siena's hope in this one is that Penn goes off and they outrebound SPU by so much that it offsets everything else.

In my opinion, if you don't know how to gameplan around something as simple as Kenpom #s (which are available to everyone) then you probably shouldn't go anywhere near scouting an opponent.
Knowing a guy can't go left is all well and good but there has to be an overall strategy or you'll just get lost in stupid details...and it won't necessarily help the team win.
If a team can't shoot a lick and gets to the FT line a lot...you better be playing a lot of zone. It's just common sense.

Horn is dressed but not going through any pre-game drills.
