Only hope is if Camper starts and picks up where he left off. If not expect more of the same, why expect anything different. Monmouth by 8 or more if Oduro starts.

What was crazy about his 2 mins stretch was that.. 1.) He didn't really hesitate to shoot. 2.) He was scoring mostly on jumpers. He seemed confident. But what I REALLY have wanted to see out of him this year was him attacking the rack. To me, attacking and drawing fouls was supposed to be his number 1 offensive strength. He's another one who could have been that high post guy this year. The kid I watched in film play Tariq Johnson was bouncy as all hell attacking the rim from the FT line. So far, he's just been dribbling into handoffs like Heurter was often told to and hadn't even looked for his shot. I really thought Camper had a chance, on paper, to be a young Alex Franklin type. Maybe a few made jumpers will give him some confidence and it will translate to rim attacking.

Monmouth and Siena are very similar in the fact that their coaches are shoving square pegs into round holes and neither team has really found its consistent rotation of players. Both teams certainly have flawed rosters but enough talent to win more games than they are. Monmouth has the most size and a lot of athleticism in the frontcourt. They should be playing in the halfcourt, take care of the ball (Challenge given they are using Tilghman and Salnave at PG) and win on the glass/defense. I've never really understood the hype on Seaborn, yes he's talented but he's just like Nico: something is always going on there. Rice is a .400 coach pre-Justin Robinson and I think he reverts back going forward unless he can find the next J-Rob. Let's face it: he landed a 5-8 PG with no offers, a partial qualifier wing (Seaborn) that would have went higher if not for grades, a kid dismissed at Oklahoma in Hornbeak, and then surrounded that core with some role players that became solid players as juniors and seniors. He typically hasn't recruited above average in the MAAC despite a beautiful arena and a campus close to the Jersey Shore and the unprecedented success the program has had. Just like Siena, Rice needed an awesome class for 2017 with all that was graduating and landed a nice player in Hammond, then a bunch of role players at best.
Well, I just ranted for awhile about Monmouth, now my prediction for tonight. My guess is another tight game- want to see 15-20 minutes from Camper at the 4, he's a really good athlete and let's see what we have to work with down the stretch here. Him and Huerter should play 75% of the minutes at the 4, only a little 2 bigs with Fisher and Oduro.
Siena wins this one 74-69.

I still really like this frosh class as a whole. You never know what a new coach could do with them. Look at Cameron Young of Quinny. He's averaging like 18 & 6 this year. Last season, he played in 6 games for a total of 8 mins. Now look at the kid.

Last season, he played in 6 games for a total of 8 mins. Now look at the kid. I do too. Horn is absolutely balling right now, double digits in every game since Nico left and shooting the lights out. I don't think it's in Siena's best interest that Horn be a 15-17 ppg guy long-term (think he's more suited for a second scorer's role) but the ability to get a bucket is definitely there, especially if he adds that extra step of quickness to get to the rim easier. Penn isn't going to be a star but he's a very solid player, and I think JP's lack of an offensive plan really has kept him down. Upside to Oduro is tremendous, as he continues to develop and learn the little things he has star potential. I'm still not there yet on Camper but he showed flashes last time out. Can't wait to watch him next season. Heck, even Bentley has some upside in the right system. We'll see what happens, I really hope we get a new coach in March and that coach can hold onto these freshmen.

Camper obviously has a lot more to show before we can believe he can be solid in the future. I think both he and Heurter probably have upside with the right system and more emphasis on driving from the high post etc. Bentley has some skills but, frankly, he doesn't ever use any of them and it just annoys me. I've said my piece on Oduro. I think he's a contributor but the fear of plateau is real and, based on his recent comments, he sees it and is willing to work on it.

Loved that Camper hit some shots but let's be real. 3 of the 4 shots he hit were ones that a 40 year old YMCA player could hit. Wide open with no one jumping at him. The and one was clearly a step up and worth noting. If he joins the regular rotation, you can be sure he will be guarded closer than he was on Sunday. I didn't see anything out of Camper that vaults him ahead of anyone on the roster. Have hated all along that they burned his red shirt and then didn't play him. But Oturo and Huerter (the guys that he would likely take minutes from) need the playing time as well if the team is going to improve this year and into next. Big road underdog against a MAAC team. Siena has played reasonably well in road games (outside of Q) Game should be competitive and I think they win tonight. We'll see.

I don't think Camper is going to be a guy who should be shooting a lot of threes. Like I said, I've yet to see the player I thought he was on paper. However, I'm not yet ready to write it off as not being there and him being a 'fail'. He's only played 27 mins total and they've been disjointed mins as all hell. And the fact that I'm not willing to write him off has a lot to do with knowing that Jimmy wouldn't necessarily know what he had even if he had it.

Camper was a kid whose high school stats and film suggested that he was so aggressive that he'd be taking 7 or 8 FTs per game. That says 'Aggressive' to a top level.
We haven't seen that from him yet. If he gets 15 minutes tonight...that's what I want to see. Get to that high post and attack the rim from there.

Have to agree re Camper - I'm sure he had no idea he'd be playing so he came in loose as a goose and the Quinny D just figured he was an end of the bencher and focused on the other 4 - not taking anything away from Manny and his confidence was soaring as each trip succeeded. He may have so much "Jimmy" influence before the game that he could come tight, nervous and end up back on the pines quickly - one thing about JP, he has a short string on anyone on the court early...

Don't forget about the competition he was facing in high school. In that league Evan Fisher would have looked like some sort of defensive superstar with an incredible knack for getting to the line.

Problem with this team is a blatant lack of quicks and athleticism, and it really shows up on the defensive end of the floor. Look at QU last week, it looked like a layup drill. No one could stay with their man.
Unfortunately there isn’t a player on this roster that would have logged anything but deep bench minutes on Siena’s better teams.
Add Patsos coaching and it’s a cluster.....
I believe the kids are playing to the best of their ability and I pull for them but as a group although I have to be honest they’re really up against it as true mid D1 players. A few are boarderline but that’s the best we got. We have a two fold problem recruiting and coaching.
I think even if you had a coach that was up to the task the best you would get is a 500 club.

OI- I actually think as disadvantaged as we are, they could be closer to .600-.700 if there were better rotations, better in game adjustments and if the whole thing didn't head down a path of destruction when the wrong team captains were named in the first damn place.
