You can only take a transfer is you had a ship open Sept 1st-- that rule is in place to prevent teams from running kids off to accept transfers. 50/50 on Nico coming back..I'm still of opinion if he finds a decent landing spot in next few days he is gone

Providence is a good team and Cooley has it going. I doubt he needs a headache

He'd have to sit 22 months, and team has to give him 2 (maybe 2 1/2 years?) of scholarship for one year ('19-'20)?

If he Enrolls somewhere else by the start of second semester, he can either do what you just outlined or sit this coming semester and first semester next year and become eligible around December 15 of next season and use his final year from then on. That’s probably the more attractive option for the bigger programs. If he doesn’t enroll elsewhere by second semester he wouldn’t enroll until at least summer and maybe not until fall, would sit next year and play 2019-20 season.

I'm sure Nico is being shopped this weekend, if he finds a landing spot he likes he is gone, if not who knows JP and Nico could "make up" How many coaches will want a player who has a bit over half a year of eligibility left? Or one full year IF he sits a full year, tying up two years of scholarships.

My understanding is that they just can't cancel a player's scholarship mid-year. I know that was the rule a few years ago because that happened a few times.

We can all speculate on whether or not he comes back; hell we could have a pool; yes/no, when??? but there could be many other issues in play here as many of us are not really buying the 'family matter' thing. Whether he returns to Siena or not we most likely will never know (as Paul Harvey would say) the rest of the story. Quite frankly I don't think it matters worth squat anyway. Does not take a rocket scientist to have seen the discord between Nico and JP, Nico and some players (the body language between him, Friday, Penn and Horn was markedly awkward- could be my assessment/observation skills may be off because I am not watching from inside the building). It's been off all season. Again, just MHO from outside looking in. I do miss going to the TUC even on those frigid nights but won't be back until JP is out of the building.

Problems not just with Nico! It’s bad at all levels around this program. Not even talking about wins and losses

Nico has not looked happy in a long time. In the past posters were talking about his effort and how good it was. Not sure what games they were watching but I didn’t see it and I saw every home game live. He’s not happy, it’s abundantly clear. It seems like it’s a coaching problem or a recruiting problem, either way it really doesn’t matter.

I guess my call for
"To respect Nico and his mother, I suggest all on here refrain from further speculation and his future. Let's hope everything works out for the best for the both of them."
Is going to be ignored. AMAZING!!!

Is going to be ignored. Greg went down there to talk to his mother. The person who stated on this very board that she needed to get Nico out of Albany....now you want to believe a TU tweet and insinuate that there is some medical issue or the like? Please.......you are definitely smarter than that. I know them, as well as his grandfather and uncle and wish them all well. He has not been happy here all season; and why is Greg there and not JP??? Or for that matter both.

My guess is Nico has played his last game at Siena. Of course I thought that last year too. But it seems different now. Just read his mother's comments on the board. Being completely honest it's probably good if he moved on. It's just another nail in Jimmy's coaching coffin. If Nico comes back and leads Siena to 12-14 wins GUARANTEED the fluffers will be pounding the drums that JP needs more time. No what he needs is a pink slip and Siena needs to blow this whole thing up again. Please with the 'fluffer' thing. Unless you name names, many you might refer to are longtime Siena fans who might just have a different approach than you with regard to the program. I think we should all be more respectful of fans of the program. Doesn't mean we can't express our own opinions - just do it with respect. Great post, but let's not forget that respect goes both ways. The fans that think Siena can do no wrong, basically walks on water should have respect for the opinions of those who disagree with the present management of the school, both financially and athletically. My thoughts is to leave a Franciscan as a figurehead take care of the personnel challenges , moral, ethics and have real managers come in and run the operational and financial aspect of the school.
