And eventually with consistent success the Siena brand will increase in value to the point where a really good coach will want to stay. Remember Deane wanted to stay, he loved the program. Lol, you bring up a coach who coached here almost 30 years ago. Maybe they can bring him back. Deane may have loved the program, but he was moving on and was not sticking around. Now that Iowa coach is not tearing it up this year and is looking at the B10 cellar this year. If he were to become available I'd be all in. LOL. (Not likely) it would take a few years in the cellar before Iowa makes a move.

I think you are the one who didnt read my post. Xavier and Butler didnt get lucky with the hires-- the made good hires because they had strong AD's. what do you think it's a coincidence that Xavier and Butler play same style no matter who the head coach is? Siena has a lot of built in advantages- they dont play in a pro town - they are big dog in town, have decent sized media market and arena to play in - so I fully reject Siena can't be good most years argument- unless you mean Siena can be consistently good with the current AD then I agree My point was that you can’t expect top 2 every year with the occasional 3rd, which was the point made by someone above that was the cause for my original post. .500 years happen every few years, because recruiting classes don’t pan out or someone transfers because they want a better opportunity or coaches leave, etc. IF you have a GREAT AD and a GREAT culture around your program and yes, even a bit of luck in hiring coaches (it’s a science but certainly an inexact one) then MAYBE you become Butler or Xavier. It’s very difficult. I would like to see a new AD make this hire, but at this point unless Darg is fired within the week that won’t be happening. Darg is very well-liked at Siena per my non-athletics sources and won’t be going anywhere. If he does this right: gets a search firm, interviews several good candidates, and make a decision, I think we will do fine with our next coach. Darg is an okay AD, nothing special but better than JP as our coach. key words, if he does it right, as history shows he has done it wrong more than right, especially with extensions, you refute your own arguement

I was there last night (no way there was 5800 there, but I understand why) and I was rooting these guys on. I think there is a decent amount of skill and a lot of heart there, but I think they are not being served/coached to the point that even closely maximize their strengths with a game plan. And that's not even counting how I see us getting beat on the recruiting trail for better prospects (by schools we USED to beat) and in having ZERO seniors and just 2 (for now) juniors who have been there since HS. I am looking at the whole 4+ years. I've asked before. Based on 4+ years in, do you think JP has shown to be the guy that can recruit and coach (practice & game) that can get Siena to where you want it to be. Take away anybody else's expectations. Sub .500 now and looks like it's going subber. Of course there wasnt 5800 there last night, and Im guessing theres now way there was 8,000 at the Niagara game in 2010 the other poster was referencing either. Unless everyone thinks this is the first year Siena has messed with attendance figures? Obviously he hasnt done a great job. The first 4 years were okay. THIS was a big year, and they fell woefully short in the recruiting dept. With so many starting minutes to give, we needed 4 impact kids, and we got 1 1/2. I'm pretty sure I remember that Niagara game as the game there wasn't an empty seat in the arena and they were turning people away at the box office. Seemed completely ridiculous that after people came down in the cold they couldn't open up another section for them. That led to the removal of the tarps in the end zone and I believe the capacity now is higher than 8,065.

There haven't exactly been a lot of sellouts since to confuse it with.
