Stags will present a stiff challenge no doubt, Nelson has been great all yr.............but the way Siena has played down the stretch, and playing at home, that is a huge advantage.........it will take Fairfield to play their best game of yr that night to come out with a win, and I don't think they are capable of it.........we can really use our skill in the frontcourt to control that game............only wildcard might be Mitch B coming up with a solid gameplan against us.............TBD Apparently they must not have given Mitch the scout the first two times we beat them this year.

Wouldn't it be nice after Siena beats Fairfield that Quinnipiac or Niagara shocked Monmouth I mean that's why they call it March Madness... Some Siena MAAC tournament facts: Siena's MAAC tournament record since 1998 (when MAAC went to 10 teams) is 31-14 (.689) but only 5-6 since 2010. First round: 5-1 Quarterfinals: 13-5 Semifinals: 8-5 Championship: 5-3 @ TUC 21-6 @ other venues 10-8 MAAC tournament record since 1998 vs. Fairfield 4-1 (last meeting 2010 MAAC title game) Any idea when they last time an 8/9 beat a 1 in the MAAC Tourney? Wikipedia only has the brackets back to 2008 and it hasn't happened since then.

Could be Fairfield in Mitch's first or second year as HC there. Stags were 8th and went to the Dance.

In 2002 canisius beat top seeded rider as the 8 seed. For comparison sake, going by the final 2002 Sagarin, Rider was about 6-7 points better than Canisius. This year Monmouth is about 16-17 points better than Quinny and Niagara. Pretty safe bet that Monmouth losing in the quarters would be the biggest upset in MAAC Tournament history.

Ironic, is Cormier the coach related to the Cormier that Mitch firmly declared on camera was 'up our ass' a few years back? Sorry, just could not resist. I'm getting excited to attend mulitple tournaments this year.

Yes rider was a weak one seed that year but it was still hilarious when they lost and I remember it vividly.

We were down big to #2 Marist in the Quarterfinals and came back. The 1-2-3 seeds all lost on Saturday. The finals were 7 Siena over 4 Niagara. But that year there was no dominant team unlike the Fran dynasty and Monmouth this year. www.nytimes.com/2002/03/03/sports/college-basketball-maac-tournament-top-three-in-league-are-ousted-in-openers.html

It would be like Deane losing in the first round to New Hampshire as the one seed. It is possible, but highly unlikely.

I think that was the year FF was good and Bowman went down early in the season, causing them to fall to the 8 seed, but Bowman came back for the tournament and made it happen for FF.

Siena had Dwayne "the main Drain" Archbold..............who was tourney MVP and to this day holds the single tournament scoring record for most points in a single event...............with Prosper, Andy Cavo, Justin Miller and James Clinton............they almost had 5 guys in double figure scoring every game...........Arch, Cavo & Prosper were all tourney selections..............Miller was getting double digit boards, Clinton was the shut down defender, Cavo the glue guy hitting many three's and Prosper averaged over 7 assists a game................they were down by 20 to Marist, was sitting in the same row as Sean Kennedy's family & girlfriend, they were in tears as that game unfolded, and they were truly devastated by that loss for him................

Lavon will be playing with a chip on his shoulder this weekend after getting robbed of any respect by the leagues coaches.
Javion and Brett will finally both start to play to their capabilities on both sides of the ball.
Siena's one/two punch of Marquis and Nico will put up some great numbers in both Siena's first win against FF but also in their second tournament game win of the weekend against Monmouth, when they show the league they have something to prove against league darlings Robinson and Seaburn(sp?).
No way they don't finish things off on Monday night against another upset minded team in St. Peters, that takes Iona down in the other semi-final upset.
Guess we are going to the Big Dance after all folks.
