Singelais: My expert medical opinion is Siena's Marquis Wright looks to be moving well in the shooting drills and three-man weave we're watching today. Both Jimmy Patsos and Marquis Wright said the plan is for Wright to come off the bench at Rider on Friday. 4Guys video: www.periscope.tv/w/1RDGlDOLvZVGL

Hope so but my bet is Monday against the Gaels. Hey! If he can give us 8-10 minutes it could be the difference in the game.

He should help reduce the number of team turnovers which will really help.

He should help reduce the number of team turnovers which will really help. I agree we need to reduce turnovers. Marquis is going to help keep the pace fast which unfortunately leads to turnovers. He leads the team in turnovers/game. We tend to forget that the last game he played he turned the ball over 9 times! That is worse the game we all blasted Lavon Long for when he had 8. Kenny Wormley has 3 more turnovers in 151 more minutes than Marquis. The ability for the Saints to get to the rim and keep our opponents defense honest is going to be the biggest factor that Marquis is going to bring to the table. Hopefully he can continue to hit the three pointers like he was! I don't know if he can keep up a 54% 3pt percentage(Not many could). He just needs to hit enough to keep the defense honest. Can't wait to see Marquis and Nico run the floor! Hopefully Pastos remembers the has not played in six weeks and does not play him too many minutes tonight. Need him at full strength for the tournament. 10-15 minutes tops. quick turnaround to Monday night followed by another quick turnaround Wednesday night. Not a lot of recovery time. GO SAINTS

GO SAINTS You can't compare Wormley and Wright that easily with regards to the turnovers. Wright also had 10 assists in that 9 turnover game...Long had just 2...and Wright added 20 pts. That's not a great game passing wise but still a positive assist ratio. Wright may lead in turnovers per game but also leads in assists per game. Wormley doesn't really handle the ball or create as much for others as much as Wright does. Also, Wright was technically playing SG and told to look for his own shot first at the time.. Wright is still the same guy that he was over his first 2 years. Wormley's assist ratio is 1.30. Wright's career assist ratio is 1.75 while also looking to score more...and it was 1.84 heading into this year before his role changed. And Long's career assist ratio is still significantly negative. Yeah, Wright may be rusty....but he's certainly proven to be the best pure PG we have...and one of the best in the league. We want our best assist to TO ratio guy handling the ball. There isn't really too much debate for otherwise. Now, with Nico established, he won't have to force it as the scorer all the time. He can return to the role that he had before this year. And Wright is much better in transition than Wormley is. Those shots Wormley misses or balls he loses the handle on, Wright will make. Wright has natural talent and a great pure handle, passing skills, and instincts. He also typically makes way more little defensive plays than Wormley. All those blocks and steals that Nico are getting we usually got from Wright...now they're both out there. I think Wright has so much raw ability that he'll be able to adjust quickly and be back to largely his old self after a couple games. Maybe the 3 pt shooting goes away but we don't really need that from him right now anyway.

We all know that one of our bigger problems (biggest?) has been turnovers and all parties are guilty. And everyone has a bad game. My own comment is: it's the second half, our guards are looking a little fatigued and the other team is pressing the ball, Wormley is out, bringing the ball down is Ryan and "fill in the blank" and things are not looking good. Oh wait, Marquis is available and he's only played six minutes. What's my point? It's like winning the lottery. Even though we have done well record wise without Marquis there have been times when the team has starting breaking down for short periods because of being short one more ball-handler. Even Marquis in small amounts could definitely be the difference between 2nd and 4th. If his body holds up, I think he will be the x factor, at 70% or 100%, he's the difference. When he was playing before the team was at 100%. Since he went down the team has grown so much. (can you say NICO) With Quis back, we should be at 110%. I'm really excited to see how this all works out. I'm hoping his return tonight really pumps the team up, we really need a win tonight. Go Saints!

Jimmy's Fran speech aside, the real reason we turn the ball over is because we haven't played with our best PG as the PG all year long AND Bisping and JO have been put into roles where they are ball handlers more. Without a true PG, they are having to create their own shots. They are the primary culprits and have the poorest assist ratios. Most of the turnovers are coming in half court post feeds and things like that...not by going off makes in transition. We turn the ball over in the half court on lazy passes and because we don't have our best PG controlling the tempo and instead have all the guys who play PG on their heels leading the team. Wright is our PG. It is no coincidence whatsoever that the first year that he is not in the role of pure PG since he came here is the one year that this same team has had a turnover problem. Remember, last year, Siena had a positive team assist ratio. You've taken the ball OUT of the hands of the guy who had 199 assists as a frosh and plays with a high assist ratio, has the best handle, and is the best decision maker and have given it to players who barely have positive assist ratio and play on their heels. Wright can attack and put other teams on their heels. We've played on our heels all year because we took our best player out of the role god made him for...largely out of necessity at the time.

It would have been interesting to see what our record would have been if he hadn't gone down. Sure minutes would have opened up for other players but Nico was still going to be Nico. I'm sure we would have 2nd place anyways. It would have been fun to see how we measured up to Monmouth with Quis playing. Oh well! I'm thrilled we're back in the hunt!

While this makes sense, we have to remember that Marquis is playing with tape, bandage or some other kind of covering on the palm of his left hand. He was having some trouble with it at practice on Wednesday. He lost the ball a few times while dribbling, and seemed a bit frustrated with it. At one point, he had the trainer look at it and change whatever was on the hand. That was his first time back playing with the injured hand for n extended period. Point is, he may not be the same high-quality ball-handler he was before until that hand heals more.

By the end of next week that cut probably won't even be a factor. He's only practiced for one day. I'm not really expecting to start to see the Wright dividends being paid into our accounts until the FF game at the earliest. Anything he gives us before then is gravy. We're just trying to work him in right now. It's an investment for a benefit in the future.
