It going to be interesting to see if "THEY" come up with a way to screw Nico out of this weeks ROW award! Last week, I believe, they gave the ROW to a bench player from Quinny who only played in 1 of their 2 games and scored a whopping 15 points while Nico tallied 42 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. This week Nico scores 20 and 22 to go along with 10 rebounds, 7 assists and 5 steals. If he doesn't win it this week the award is nothing more than a sham!!!! Hell maybe he should get the POY award too but then we all know that will never happen.

Wow, do you believe Cluess said this about Nico? Here's a quote from a column in today's Daly Dose of Hoops, "He might be the best freshman in this conference," Cluess said of Clareth, who posted 20 points off the bench as he furthers his case for both Rookie of the Year and Sixth Man of the Year honors. "He's terrific."
I might just have to reconsider my feeling about Cluess as a person, NOT!

Forget ROY if Siena finishes second Nico should get strong consideration for third team all-MAAC. Needham and Casimir made it as frosh in recent memory so it is not unprecedented for a freshmen to make it. Does anyone think we'd be 10-5 without Wright if Nico didn't go on this tear?
Still four games to go in the regular season but I'm guessing Brett makes the first team and JO the second at least.
Don't want to wish this year away but man next year Siena will have 5 guys who could be all-MAAC players. We might have 5 of the best 15 players in the league with four seniors and Nico in the starting line-up. But keep recruiting Jimmy so Nico has a lot of lot of talent around him when he's a junior and senior too!

Overall, the freshman class that entered the MAAC this year is pretty impressive. Nico, Parker, Portney and Seaborn all look like furture POY candidates.
Throw in the 4 freshman at FF, Bundu at the Q, McGill at Iona, Prochet and Robb at Niagara, Lamb at Marist ... etc.
If all these kids stay around, the MAAC should be a top 15 conference as they become upperclassman.

Nico is already one of the better players in the conference. At times he's the best player on the floor, he sure looked it yesterday on both ends of the floor!

Actually looking at Nico's numbers he shouldn't be ROW - he really should be POW. That would make up for the screw job of last week.

I'm not sure how it works, but maybe last week Siena nominated Nico for player of the week and not rookie of the week. That is the only way I can reconcile last week's pick given Nico's numbers.
Can anyone clarify?

Can anyone clarify? That's really a good question Bill. With his numbers, it's very strange that he hasn't gotten more recognition.

Siena nominated Nico for ROW. The voting is apparently done by MAAC media and staffers at the MAAC schools (that apparently means interns ib the SID offices).
