My opinion is you honor the LOI no matter what. The offer was made and accepted. To do otherwise is just bad business from a recruiting perspective going forward. Colleges accept/admit students all the time but there can be issues when an acceptance is revoked. Why should sports be any different. If something is warranted than you act and deal with the issue proactively. I'm not saying this is the case with KR just in general. As far as KR the lack of info has raised a few questions and hypotheticals. Nothing more nothing less.

Didn't Javion have a severe ankle injury? How's that working out for us?

To be clear I was just posting about the rules. I have no info on the particular situation.

I don't know, I'm sure someone here knows the answer, I would hope we could pass if needed Post by gorvy on Sep 17, 2015 at 6:02pm And a 3.75 GPA sophomore year-- can't hurt. Post by mjs72 on Sep 18, 2015 at 8:02am Yup! Mark Singlais @marksingelais Feb 3 Siena signee @hoopin_Lil, 6-1 combo G from New Town (Md.), hasn't played this season because of ankle injury. Getting close to returning. Why all the sudden doom and gloom? Greenblood, I know your close to the program and respect your opinion, have you heard something? If not, I don't get all this sudden speculation.... We should simply ask Slim. Slim, what's going on with Ruchards? Why didn't he play in the fall semester? Is he injuries? Why did he transfer? Is there academics issues involved? In other words, please enlighten us as to what's going on with him/his status.

We asked on Baltimoe hoops and got answers. Then a few other people threw in their opinions. Sat out due to transfer then first games he was eligible for were cancelled due to blizzard so he hadn't played.

I don't disagree that if something were to happen that warranted pulling an offer, but I believe that hypotheticals as to something happening in this case without any facts is doing a disservice to the recruit.

That is correct as a general business practice. That being said, there are definitely scenarios where Siena could decide not to give him the honor of a scholarship.

Agreed What's the difference between that and running someone off after they get here? I'm just asking.

I would say the difference is that you wouldn't be giving the recruit a chance to compete for his slot. A subtle difference I admit, but the optics seem worse to me if you renege on a LOI just because you think you can get a better player. If you recruit a kid and he doesn't cut it on the court after competing with the other recruits it seems more fair to me.
Further if you pull the scholarship after the recruit took himself off the table for other offers early that doesn't look good and could be used against you on the recruiting trail.
