I stlll can't figure out why Imoh is playing a little as he has, esp when Brett & Lavon are in foul trouble. Once we start playing that offense-defense substitution to get Brett in for his offense and limit fouls on defense, seems to me Imoh should be in that mix. Nope - I don't like Imoh's ability to hold a ball on offense but he is a presence in the middle who can swat the ball and intimidate if nothing else. Plus he adds 5 more fouls to give. Just don't foul Robinson, who couldn't miss FTs. This is very true, I think Silas brings an element of toughness in the middle. In his 2 min stretch he altered more shots last night than Evan has the entire season. Sorry folks Evan was badly outclassed last night mechanical post moves, non existent D, can't jump and can't rebound unless the ball falls in his lap. Silas should be getting all his minutes. Let Evan grow in practice he's far from player ready. I'm not too worked up about last nights game the team played hard for the most part. I thought a couple of players underachieved. I think with Wright we're right there with Monmouth and Iona. Keep the focus and move on.

Especially in first half Silas should be in there if o, bisping or long get two.

Great college basketball game last night, just the wrong outcome. Siena played well but Robinson and the rest of the Hawks played a little better. Looking forward to a potential third game in the tournament. Now put this game behind you and focus on St. Peter's and start another home winning streak.

Good discussion about a tough game. A few thoughts from afar: Brett & Ryan are both good players. They are also both not up to par athletically to play top 100 level D1 basketball. We sometimes expect too much from them. I truly believe they give us all they have AND are very good reps of Siena. Not saying it can't happen but don't expect Marquis to get Siena over the hump with Monmouth this year. The Hawks have buzz sawed everyone this year and although Marquis is a player who can make a big difference it won't be this year. Not so sure? Put yourself in his shoes - 6-8 weeks after having your foot cut open & a large screw inserted, are you really ready to go all out? I know I'd give it my all for my team but that's not the same as my best. Siena needs his best to slow Robinson down. That will come next year. Game and roster management - Jimmy is doing a better job this year but still makes some head scratcher substitutions hopefully they are part of a bigger roster management plan. In my opinion JP has 2 recruiting mistakes that need to be fixed if he truly believes the Siena program is a top flight MM. Smithen, WB, Tommy Huerter and Richards will all be very nice additions. Although to do so will require some roster management, getting Truehart and Barnes is exactly what the Dr ordered for the Saints to start making real noise again on the national scene. Every year there are ups and downs. This year is no different. I for one am enjoying the season. Go Saints. I feel the need to defend Brett again. You think this game supports the position that Brett struggles against higher level competition? 20 and 14 shooting 50% from the field? Not a good time to make that assertion. He's fine against Monmouth. I won't argue that he has an issue against high major players. Most of our team does.

Some of you guys need to “relax” bench Oliver Bench Wormley?? One is a career role player, forced into full time action because of an injury to our best player, the other a freshmen. Relax the sun will come up today- both players will be better, they had bad games- it happens. Monmouth is a good team more talented than our Saints, especially so without our best player Well put Tony! Here is a shot of this morning's foggy sunrise in St. Pete's Beach - fits the situation. Fog will gradually clear and we will send the Peacocks on a winter flight south Friday night!! Attachments:

Every year there are ups and downs. This year is no different. I for one am enjoying the season. Go Saints. I disagree with your assessment of Brett- looking at his body of work this year and two years ago when he was healthy speaks for itself. Ryan is a role player and Brett does everything for this team and I'm sure he would be a huge contributor to most D1 programs- even those further up the food chain from us. To lump them together is a head scratcher to me. I do expect us to be able to get over the hump this year. Heck, Robinson went off on us and we lost by only 6 at home, down by only 2 fairly late in the game. I don't know how Marquis will be physically when he returns but I'm very hopeful he will be able to give us more than what we have been asking our role players, who have helped us in this stretch, to provide. Throw in 4-6,000 more fans for a semi-final or final showdown at home and I like our chances. Yes we will have to play great basketball but we are capable of doing that but if you're not playing your best basketball at that time of the year you don't deserve to go to the dance anyway. I really like the moxie of this team- they fought hard right to the end last night and don't think we should underestimate their potential. The teams goal is the same as ours- if we don't get there I'm good because it's been an exciting season, something I haven't been able to say in quite a few years but I will continue to set the bar high for this team because I believe in them and I KNOW they believe in themselves.

Referee calls: Is this the only place in college hoops where the home team gets treated like the visitors? You know something is going on when Jimmy gets several warnings but no T s. Trade off. How wrong is it for a ref to be having a long talk with King Rice while free throw shooting is going on ? These guys last night made me wish for John Hughes who looked O K doing the William and Mary / James Madison game on Sunday.

I normally don't bitch about calls but I thought Monmouth was allowed to play a bit more physical and we got whistled for more touch calls.

Not sure we ever want the Undertaker (Skips nickname for Hughes). The only thing I can figure is the refs just really hate Jimmy. Maybe word of mouth or all his antics through his career. We seem to be the only team that never gets any home cooking. Like the play when Robinson took the three and flopped to the floor. Can't imagine a Saint getting that call. Like IS yelled last night...."it is 8 vs 5 out there"

Bigfan & skipc - maybe you are correct about Brett. All I am saying is that he regularly struggles defending, aka staying out of foul trouble, when playing against athletic, strong OR good shooting MAAC level bigs. Also, again not as a slight to Brett, JO and Lavon draw a ton of attention from the other teams and to Brett's credit he does a GREAT job of taking advantage of the opportunities that attention creates for him. Brett is a very good player and a good rep of the program, even though some will see my comments as as an attack I do not mean them in that manner. In fact, if anything, I am trying to convey that he is a very good player who fans sometimes expect too much from and that isn't fair to him.
Agree re the combination of the fan support and having Marquis for the MAAC tourney could put the Saints over the hump v. Monmouth. My comments are intended to provide my pov that many appear to be moving in the direction of expecting too much from Marquis by the time this year's MAAC tourney rolls around.

I'm afraid too many people are expecting too much from Quis when he returns. The human body starts loosing muscle after 3 days of inactivity. The strength just will not be there. His wind will take more than a week to come back. And unless you have had an orthopedic surgery you really can't comprehend the difficulties associated with it. I know he is getting the best care and training possible but that doesn't change reality. I'm sure he will give 100% but I don't think that will be anywhere near where he was before surgery.

Does it bother anyone else that most of Brett's fouls are on trying to take a charge? He is very good at it but why give the refs an opp to call a foul. If he stays on his feet he would stay out of foul trouble. Plus I cringe worrying about an injury. Margot is great at it and tough as nails like Brett but she is out after whacking her head way to hard on the floor.

Great game last night, we got to see two top 100 teams square off and it was very good basketball. As most have alluded to here, Cam's minutes need to all go to Kinnon, and in big games we need Imoh in there over Fisher, especially as a situational defensive substitute. I'm sure Fisher will develop in time but right now Imoh is light years ahead of him on the defensive end. Am a bit curious whether Wormley mouthed off to Jimmy again, sending Kinnon, Cam, and Nick Cunnigham all in late over him was a huge message being sent. I'm no Oliver fan but don't think it is fair to give him too much blame for this loss, he just had a bad game, no indication to me that he needs to be benched. Also, not opposed to Lavon running the point when Wormley and Oliver are off but let's please not do it in the closing minutes when we desperately need a quick shot.

Feel the same. I've been saying that the biggest benefactor of the Marquis injury will be the 2016-2017 Siena team. Having the four seniors, and experienced Wormley & Clareth will be huge. Not even factoring in second year Fisher, Brandwijk and Larose, and then the addition of Smithen plus freshman who probably wont get much PT. No reason to give up on this team, just big reason to be excited for next season at the very least. But Wright probably wont be able to come back at 100%.

You do realize he is not just sitting around doing nothing. He is strength training, conditioning in a pool and working on his game using techniques from the training staff. I don't think any expects him back at the caliber he was playing before he was injured but its not like we are getting a guy back who has sat around for half a season eating Doritos either.
