Didn't have an answer for Robinson tonight. If he wasn't dropping a 35 footer, he was either beating us off the dribble and finishing or getting fouled or setting someone up for an easy finish. I don't know if he had a career night or is always that exceptional but he was the story tonight. Ryan Oliver has to knock down those open looks- that is why he is in there. Jimmy making statement at end of game with Cunningham for Oliver substitution? Our guys gave it their all tonight- just got beat by a little better team tonight. Marquis and 6,000 more screaming fans may be the difference next time we see them this year!

Well if you're in favor of Kinnon getting Cam's minutes it's not much of a jump to say he can take some of Oliver's as well. Oliver plays the Point, a lot -- Kinnon does not Key word being some. He also plays quite a few minutes with Kenny on the floor, Kinnon could easily take some of those. Oliver is our best backup PG without Wright, but I think Kinnon is the better sniper. Oliver has played well since Wright went down. In general I don't have a problem with his minutes, but most coaches wouldn't let a guy having a night like this stay in there long enough to miss 9 shots.

Monmouth was mixing it up on defense; playing zone then man to man. MrSiena is correct, not once did anyone screen for our guards when Monmouth was playing man to man, not once. It’s always about the stats: Points off turnovers-MON 24,SIE 11. 2nd chance points-MON 18,SIE 15. Fast break points-MON 10,SIE 6.
They shot 10 more times than we did. Monmouth Season Avg……..Siena game
FG 44% ............ 41%
3FG 38% ........... 43%
FT 77% ............. 87%
We must stay either 2nd or 3rd. 4th or 5th place puts us on the Monmouth side.

I'm not saying we should give him the Steph Curry treatment, but should we face Monmouth again I hope we try some defensive schemes to slow Robinson down and make some other guys beat us

Said in the post game comments that if MU plays Siena in the tournament he's hoping it's not until Monday night. m.sienasaints.com/m/sports/m-baskbl/recaps/020116aaa.html

I loved how we competed and basically stayed with them even w/o Marquis.
Yes, could have had fewer silly TOs but we're learning and getting better.
While I'd prefer to finish 2nd or 3rd in order to get Monmouth Monday night (assuming we both make it) I'm not too worried if we finish 4-5 and play them in the quarter finals. The key is the more games each team play the lower their 3pt shooting most likely will be. I like our 2 pt game better with out scoring bigs. Plus Marquis might be back for a few more mins by then.

Frustrating game, a lot of bad calls that went Monmouth's way. Likes\ the resiliency, just couldnt get the shot or stop to put us over the top. RO and Nico will have better nights, keep bringing the crowd and the boys will be fine. Get em on Friday!

I'd take Wormley off the court. He was out matched badly tonight. He has been adequate vs the bottom half of the maac. Must win on Friday, can't get swept by another team with 2 games remaining with Iona.

Anyone have the stats for RO's FG and 3 pt % this year? I doubt it is nowhere near what it should be for someone who has been dubbed our "sniper". He seems like a really nice and classy kid, but it is well past time to cut down his minutes. Sounds good, but with Quis out who do you give the minutes to? Ryan struggles guarding quicker guards. We are a few players away- Kadeem will help next year as will Richards ( if he makes it) Hope Jimmy can sign Barnes ( 6'6" WF/SF) and love to have Truhart 6'7" athletic forward,. We need more talent to get over "hump" Why wouldn't Richard make it? I've seen KK suggest there might be an eligibility issue as well. What do you guys know that I don't about him? I thought his academics were good.

With a heathy Wright - I believe we beat this team in the MAAC!
Mark Singelais Siena G Marquis Wright is scheduled for Wednesday X-ray of his injured foot. Goal is he'll return to play final week of regular season. 8:19 PM - 1 Feb 2016

Good discussion about a tough game. A few thoughts from afar: Brett & Ryan are both good players. They are also both not up to par athletically to play top 100 level D1 basketball. We sometimes expect too much from them. I truly believe they give us all they have AND are very good reps of Siena.
Not saying it can't happen but don't expect Marquis to get Siena over the hump with Monmouth this year. The Hawks have buzz sawed everyone this year and although Marquis is a player who can make a big difference it won't be this year. Not so sure? Put yourself in his shoes - 6-8 weeks after having your foot cut open & a large screw inserted, are you really ready to go all out? I know I'd give it my all for my team but that's not the same as my best. Siena needs his best to slow Robinson down. That will come next year.
Game and roster management - Jimmy is doing a better job this year but still makes some head scratcher substitutions hopefully they are part of a bigger roster management plan. In my opinion JP has 2 recruiting mistakes that need to be fixed if he truly believes the Siena program is a top flight MM. Smithen, WB, Tommy Huerter and Richards will all be very nice additions. Although to do so will require some roster management, getting Truehart and Barnes is exactly what the Dr ordered for the Saints to start making real noise again on the national scene.
Every year there are ups and downs. This year is no different. I for one am enjoying the season.
Go Saints.

Some of you guys need to “relax” bench Oliver Bench Wormley?? One is a career role player, forced into full time action because of an injury to our best player, the other a freshmen. Relax the sun will come up today- both players will be better, they had bad games- it happens. Monmouth is a good team more talented than our Saints, especially so without our best player

I stlll can't figure out why Imoh is playing a little as he has, esp when Brett & Lavon are in foul trouble. Once we start playing that offense-defense substitution to get Brett in for his offense and limit fouls on defense, seems to me Imoh should be in that mix. Nope - I don't like Imoh's ability to hold a ball on offense but he is a presence in the middle who can swat the ball and intimidate if nothing else. Plus he adds 5 more fouls to give. Just don't foul Robinson, who couldn't miss FTs.
