I'll say this, Brown, who has lived in this area the last 20 years, totally understands what this game means to the fans in the Capital District. Not sure JP ever will..... JP understands, he just hasn't been able to do anything with it ... but he gets it. What are you going to say when you're 0 2. No way you are a Siena coach and don't understand the magnitude of this game. If you don't you don't belong here. You're really selling your boy short on that one HJ. Your buddy is much smarter than that.... BTW I think this is the year he gets it ! What if he doesn't... The days of going 9-1 against UA are over. As is your lock on home court.

I am talking about understanding what this game means to Siena fans. I think JP is pretty clear on that, no way you can't be at this juncture. I think JP is due, Siena has players this year. The question is can they get it done .. I think so

I think the people that have low expectations get what they ask for. I'm sure the people at Valparaiso or Gonzaga didn't strive for mediocrity. Only losers do that. Are you a loser? I think we all want to win. Why do you want to pick fights? That's the last thing I want to do. I think the "haters" have their opinions and as much as some may disagree with them, they are a good balance to the "homer" sterile board some of you want. Yes we all want to win. It doesn't mean we can't be objective about the team and the coach.

I like everything I've heard out of the Siena players regarding this game. Outside of the first 20 minutes against Loyola this team has looked fantastic at the TUC. I expect that to continue against SUNY Albany.

Click absolutely correct. Just as Siena has had down years so will UA. Historical fact when discussing mid majors. Both fan bases should get used to runs by either school.

Guy I'm worried about is Hooley- guy is shooting horrible this year, he is a very good career 3 point shooter and is shooting about 16% from 3- dont want to see him break out. Saints are going to have to control tempo ( and that starts with rebounding) Siena has more team speed than Ualb so the more we can run better off Saints will be. Half court grind it out definitely favors UA. Last two years Brown has played off Wright- almost daring him to shoot from 3 - does he do that again this year? Hooley has been horrible all year. Cremo clearly the better player right now. BUT, with our luck, Hooley will wake up from this freeze and probably go for 30. Agree. Take no one for granted in this game, players show up. A rivalry game has a tendency to do that, I doubt Hooley has an off game.

If Patsos can right the program and sticks around Siena has a much better chance of becoming a more consistent winning mid major program.

You are a small liberal arts school with well documented struggles financially. Looking at budgets, overall athletic department etc. There is very little to support this.

This should be a good game. No clear favorite.
I root for Cremo to do well in a losing effort!

You are a small liberal arts school with well documented struggles financially. Looking at budgets, overall athletic department etc. There is very little to support this. Again your correct in the global perspective as far as budgets go. UA 19m overall athletic budget, great majority is that of the football program. Traditionally the small private catholic institution has been able to, compete nd compete well in basketball due to the ability to keep the budgets within a legitimate means. So yes they will be able to compete should they, important, decide to. Do not ever think that a state run school will never have challenges regarding athletic budgets and stipends given by the state. UA already id instituting programs to bring the graduate and undergraduate programs back to former highs. All institutions are suffering from the same financial challenges, state schools less, bit their time is coming as the tax base decreases, especially in this state. Coach Browns has a situation developing in how much can the school compensate him even if he keeps going to, the dance. As you stated UA is loosing much of their team this year, law of diminishing returns suggest he is close to reaching the pinnacle of his compensation package. Last year I stated it was an embarrassment with the bonus given after the year he had, backs my view.

UA has a big upside for sure: tax payer money, student class size, amount of alumni, etc. If UA goes to the CAA it will be great for the school and the capital district area. I want to see both schools excel and get to that next level. Hopefully we are having this argument in the near future with both schools in higher conferences. I think it's just a matter of time for UA, not sure it will ever happen for Siena.

Only reason why UA would go to the CAA would be football. Conference is very regional. Add that the chance e basketball program manking less appearances to the dane and travel budget. Least forget the current debate concerning football and the pipeline of players drying up due to injuries. As far as Siena, they may have already been there if the admin had wanted it and placed the right lilies and protocols in place todo so.
What might happen is that the top teams from MAAC and AE consider forming a league and let the traditional cellar dwellers f their own.

UA had had an open invite for several years to join all sports. Caa is a much better conference than the ae. UA has a plan to continue to grow. Next step is gut and complete renovation of sefcu. Once that happens we'll see what's next. Albany is not done growing this athletic dept.
