Great article with a very encouraging message. It sounds like the team has a good chemistry and JP is making some changes in his coaching style that should be beneficial to the students and the team.

Last year going into the year, I remember being worried about the tradeoffs on Siena. By tradeoffs, I mean like one guy is good on offense but not on defense. Or one guy can rebound but this other guy can score. Siena's roster still has a lot of those same tradeoffs. It can work if everyone is healthy and plays within their role. But it falls apart when they lose certain pieces and others have to go beyond their role due to injuries etc.. Like taking away the team's 2 best rebounders, etc. With the guards getting better handles, more athletic, and better fits for the system... some of those tradeoff issues will hopefully start to resolve themselves. And that may be part of what could result in the better chemistry. The issue that could again crop up is 3 pt shooting. Replacing White with someone who handles better (and hopefully finishes better) but can still defend like him should go a long way...as well as having more traditional wing play in general. Same with Hymes...re: rebounding and defense. Siena has had a lot of awkwardness fitting guys like Hymes, White, Long, JO, Silas, and Wright together. They all have a serious weakness for their respective positions and required a lot of juggling to make the whole a solid unit. Hopefully, things become a little easier this year.

I think there's a lot of truth to this. The team doesn't really have that great all around player who does everything well. So I guess the whole will be greater than the sum of its parts. I think a lot of these issues will be addressed as players develop and through recruiting. Three point shooting for example seems to have been shored up by bringing Richard and LaRose on board - two career 40% or better shooters from 3.

lets not go there. Quis and Brett are the correct choices. I would have been inclined to add Rolly as well forngood measure.

Lavon is one of the nicest kids on campus, regardless of athletic ability. PPC did a great job raising her son on and off the court.

This team desperately needs vocal leaders on the court! Ideally this should be the two captains! We shall see!
