Sir, please take your words out of my mouth. Someone coming in and receiving aid as a regular student before joining the team is very different from someone who has been on an athletic scholarship for two years suddenly receiving an academic scholarship that's close to a full ride instead. If you don't think the NCAA would view that as a violation you don't know much about the NCAA. Actually, you never mentioned an academic scholarship previously. All that was mentioned is aid. And if you think that doesn't happen, you don't know the NCAA. Ok fine, you misunderstood what I was saying. Yes players can go from scholarship to walk on, and they can receive some aid. But I was responding to those suggesting that Siena could find some other way in which JO could have his tuition paid for without actually counting towards the limit of 13.

Lots of different kind of aid. Seems like it could be done other than the obvious aid from a booster. All that said, let's let it play out and see what happens.

I don't believe Patsos should ask Cam to give back his scholarship, even if he is feeling the heat. If Cam wants to give it back to help JO and the team, then fine, that's another story. Ogunyemi left on his own. It's Patsos job to have the best players he can get out there to compete, but should do it the right way.
I also don't think JO would be the difference between a championship contending team or not. They will be better with him for sure, and have more depth up front, but it will have more to do with the progression of the freshman guards and Long's foul trouble than anything else.

Here's some clarifications on the rules with regards to transferring back. www.maachoops.com/2015/08/javion-ogunyemi-to-transfer-back-to.html#moreAccording to an excerpt (below) from the 'NCAA Transfer Guide' (a document published by the NCAA to help student athletes understand the rules and restrictions before they decide to transfer) Ogunyemi should be able to play immediately at Siena IF he has not practiced or played at Boston University. What was he doing at BU all summer? JO is not that good. He was a PW recruit If JP can't recruit better players then JP should go too. Why all the hullabasloo about nothing.

Cam is keeping his money. This is JP's post Siena fund to coach at NC State. Done Deal. The only loser is Siena run by that rubber stamp suit D'Arg.

Arguably the best big in the MAAC. Made nice strides in improving last yr vs frosh season. You're obviously clueless. Get over the entire Mitch saga .......

On paper,
Brett Bisping is the best overall returning big in the MAAC. Imoh Silas is the best returning shotblocker and perhaps the best returning rebounder.
JO falls in as 2nd returning shotblocker and one of the best returning low post scorers...but nowhere near top rebounder.
As a group, with guys like WB and Long, they are formidable.
Individually, they each have weaknesses.

Since he is a recruited athlete, any kind of aid would make him a counter, i.e. count against the 13-man limit. Doesn't matter if it's need-based aid or an academic scholarship or aid from a booster or some other scholarship.

We've got to do this right. I am not in favor of anybody 'leaving'. JO made a mistake himself. Honest and small, esp considering his situation but a mistake nonetheless. Nobody else should have to pay for that. I want JO on this team in the worst way this year, but I want to do it right and it wouldn't be the worst thing if he couldn't play till next year. Hopefully, there are ways to make it happen. Are these all the issues: 1. Eligibility - Based on bison's (?) research about returning to your orig school, I would think he has a good shot. 2. Scholarship - Seems like the biggest obstacle. 3. If no scholarship, but gets non scholly aid or loans, would he be considered a walk-on and is there any issue with the limit of 13? Either way, I certainly hope he attends school at Siena thsi year., According to Jimmy sounds like he will. Re #3, if he gets non scholly aid, he counts against the limit of 13 since he was a recruited athlete. It's OK for a true walk-on who was not "recruited" under the NCAA definition to get need-based aid or academic scholarships etc. It is NOT OK for a recruited athlete to get that aid without counting against the limit. Otherwise a team might be able to assemble a roster of 20 or 30 great players from low-income areas who all attend on need-based aid.

Doesn't matter if he's eligible and/or can play this year. JO is back on team and will either play this year or next.
Regarding Cam, my opinion was not that Jimmy would ask him to give up ship but rather Cam would do it on his own for "the better of the Team".
He know's he can afford the tuition as a walk-on and he's willing to pay one more yr "for the Team". He's a class act and want's the Team to win more than getting 4 yrs of ship money.
Even if he doesn't JO will get ship next year.

No matter what you think of JO- it’s pretty clear we would be a better team with him than without him. He would be unequivocally the best returning 5 in the MAAC this year – without him we are a donut team inside, Imoh can’t score. But it is what it is, barring someone giving up their ship ( which doesn’t look like will happen) JO will sit next year
