I hear you (wait & see, no speculation). I love to speculate and more so in an optimistic way. I don't think Cam giving up his ship would piss of his dad or risk any personal issues between Cam's dad & Jimmy. Cam's dad should know what coaches have to deal with & I believe Cam's dad would understand what Jimmy's dealing with (a potential very good player coming back vs. his son's ship). I don't see that as big a hurdle as others. That's why I'm optimistic. The worst case is JO has to sit a yr & gets a ship next year, no big deal, Siena stills wins. I'm just optimistic he'll play this year. No facts, but It's still what I think. Jimmy on 104.5 last night - 1045theteam.com/at-the-post-live-week-5/He mentioned JO will be back. That's a lock. I'm sure they'll work something out regarding the scholarship. The determining factor if JO can play next year will be NCAA hardship waiver IMO. Jimmy said JO will be in school. If he wasn't going to be on scholarship why wouldn't he just go to HVCC? Even with financial aid a year at Siena is a lot of money (taking out student loans). The NCAA changed its rules a few years ago and no longer awards hardship waivers, if I remember correctly. Per the rules cited above it sounds like he will be eligible to play though. If he is in school and eligible, seems like he would play regardless of the scholarship situation.

Who knows, but either way I'm guessing it was sorted out before JO officially transferred back. Classes start in 2 weeks, so it's almost certainly been sorted out by now. Jimmy probably would have mentioned it in the interview if he knew JO was going to be away from the team for a year to get financial aid, so based on the information we have there's no reason to think he won't be playing this season.

He said JO would be back in school - he did not say JO would be playing or even practicing/working with team. He mentioned Imoh and Brett being back but did not mention the addition, a very strong addition I would add, of JO to our front line THIS YEAR! I would love to have JO back and playing right away but I don't want that "good thing" to have any impact on overall team chemistry, etc., if the word "leaves" conveniently surfaces to make a ship available. I still seriously doubt that a player (Cam) would give back his scholarship and resume his previous "walk-on" status to enable JO to access a ship. Would love to be wrong but don't see it happening that way.

Tell me how you think Javion going to classes and not being able to play, or even practice with the team, is going to help our chances of winning this year. He mentioned Imoh and Brett because he was talking about the injuries from last season and why he expects this year's team to be better. JO played all of last season, so it would not have made sense to say JO, Imoh, and Brett are back. Would be nice if the journalist actually pressed the issue and asked the question every Siena fan wants to know, but this is what we have to go on.

No inside knowledge but JO isn't coming back to Siena just to be a "regular student". They obviously had to work something out.
Now we'll he play this year? I think that's up to the NCAA. But the scholarship thing won't be the reason he doesn't play this year. As I wrote above he could have just went to school at HVCC for the year if Siena could not accommodate him. JO is a very good student but Siena costs a lot of money even with the financial aid package.

Who cares about Javion, it would be nice if he plays this coming year. I want to win this year and the only way we do that is if we have a 3 point scorer and that isn’t Javion. Jimmy should be doing everything he can to get Dobbs on his roaster for his last year of eligibility. With Dobbs we win it all. It’s that easy.

Decent D2 kid but I wouldn't waste a ship on him .... I'll take JO in a heart beat. Best big in the MAAC.

Since we loooove discussing hypotheticals here.....if you had to cut a player to make room for JO, who would it be?
Paige, Gottfried, maybe one of the frosh

Players have to earn that $50k+ a year in the classroom and the gym as well as deserve it with their behavior... Again, not saying anyone currently on the team 'fits the bill' but if a player does that's where I'd start.

When Mitch was here, I said the only way Mitch keeps his job is if he finds a proven transfer scorer. He didn’t and he lost his job. Jimmy is in the same boat. Jimmy took Cole instead of Dobbs and we know how that ended. He just selected the wrong player. He needs to win and Javion is not a major game changer. Dobbs is. It’s not wasting a slip on Dobbs. The kids a game changer in any division.

The kids a game changer in any division. Dobbs couldn't get on the court for a horrible Mississippi Valley State team. He can't help Siena. We're already counting on major minutes from 2 guys ( Clareth and Fisher) who admitted they picked Siena because they wouldn't get minutes anywhere else.
