When the tournament is in Albany I actually like that format. I like to go to all the men's games so that breaks them up a little better. When it isn't in Albany I will hate that format. Way too expensive to get a hotel room for that many nights to watch MAAC basketball.

Good. We get to lose to Iona as an 8 seed sooner this year. The waiting was horrible last year.

Iona should get a days rest now should help them with the run gun style of play.

Iona should get a days rest now should help them with the run gun style of play. And Siena should too. Looking forward to it.

I don't really care either way about the proposed changes. Don't dislike or like them. It won't matter how they decide to change or not change the format; still expect Siena to win tourney regardless of seed. We've won it in four straight games and as the #1 seed. It doesn't matter, we'll find a way to win it.

Any format that includes all 11 teams over five days is not going to increase attendance. It is however going to increase costs for the fans who will now have to pay for an extra parking fee, food, etc. I predict more leg room is in store for us.

Gorvy is spot on - TV is needed, especially for the early games. Without local coverage the tournament gets lost in the noise of the rest of D1 fighting in the bigger conferences. Local interest has to be spiked by TV coverage - we win (a key of course) and more locals will plan on Sat, Sun, Mon games. Absent that, they get to see "OBTW, Siena is going for the MAAC bid tonight on ESPN" in their Monday AM papers.

We're stuck with ESPN3 deal for the tournament for awhile, fellas. The days of regional television for the tournament are I believe, gone.
I will say the benefit of having most of the tournament on ESPN3 is it available to a fan like me that lives outside of the NY area (Quarters, Semis for men and Semis for women).
However, could we get *some* TV coverage for the first round games? When I lived in the area, I loved to go to the first round games in Albany. It was great. But I understand why they don't show it on TV- because they want fans to come to the arena.
Curious to see what happens to the women format.

Last time in Springfield I did both sessions on Saturday and the Sunday session and got a room for one night. Now you need two nights to get the same amount of games. Seems like getting it back to Friday to Monday is the best way to entice out of towners into sticking around.

huge advantage to the top 2 seeds. now only have to play Fri (off Sat), Sun and Monday. get some rest after first easy game, then just win two for title, instead of 3 in a row in the old format. which used to hurt teams with weak benches (see Iona).
MAAC trying its best to have mens games every night for attendance boost, and get their best team to the dance.

Except for when the 7 seed beats the 2 seed and has those same advantages over the 3 seed lol.

Who needs a break? Siena didn't need any break winning 4 in a row to take the Championship. The breaks are for wimps or teams that can't win 3 in a row.
