My whole point was that it's a factor but I don't think it's some huge recruiting advantage in the MAAC. I believe there are other factors more important to recruiting.
- Coach/program tradition - playing time available - school location - quality education - campus facilities/ gym vs. arena * - fanbase - style of play
Going back to almost 2000-2001, look at other programs who have absolutely terrible facilities and fan bases. Look at the zoo, or out of Niagra. These places are always getting blasted. Or St Peters as previously mentioned. Siena is the consensus #1 fanbase and largest arena, they should have gotten better players over the years, right?
Since 2001 in MAAC play:
Siena 140-116 St. Peter's 110-146 Rider 149-107 Niagra 141-115
This includes the Fran years, which by the way I wouldn't say his big 3 class were exactly high prospects that he lured in with his "recruiting advantages" of a large fan base and large arena. They were under the radar, diamond in the rough types. The records show that at least in the MAAC, coaches and programs matter most followed by other smaller factors. I don't know if a large arena and 5000 fans will away a kid away from A-10 or other MAAC schools.

Great thought, except BU win 13 games last year....in the Patriot League. And why are you under the impression the 980 fans they drew each game are, "rabid?" lol ps--our attendance was 5700 (not 4000), and that was with some HORRIBLE weather dates. 5700 paid. Were you at the games? Lol...it was anywhere from 2500-4500 in the seats After you're done beating up your favorite program, and blowing BU's, how many of the 980 "rabid" fans actually showed up at their games? BTW, what TV station are the BU games on so fans can stay home? Then tell me what game we had 2500 at the TUC.

The main reason by far Siena has gone only 140-116 since 2001 is because of two bad coaches (with one of them maybe the worst MAAC coach of all time). Rob Lanier actually did use Siena's advantages to get top talent but he couldn't coach.
You can't win with the fan-base, TUC, media coverage etc alone - it takes a very good coach. Fran did it - I'm hoping Jimmy will too.
Bottom line if Siena starts winning on a high level again there will be 6000-8000 at most games. That's a HUGE advantage to show recruits.

To make some useless point, this guy started his "analysis" with Lanier, then Fran, and obviously the PW. Like we need to go into the ups and downs of a very successful miid-major that gets raided by BCS schools every other coach it seems. Maybe he should read what our newest transfer from Richmond said about the meaningless arena, and fanbase.

I'm not beating up nor blowing any program. Just have a different take on recruiting advantages. Why can't you learn to respectfully agree to disagree. You're such a deushbag when someone doesn't agree with you, you take it personally. And it was feb 2nd home against Rider. 2500 is awfully generous, i was there it was less. Now shut up and go make me a drink

I'll tell you since I'm not sure you know to do it....5472 was the ticket # sold that night. I heard it was a under 1000 in attendance that night, and the only home game I missed. Wasn't that a Monday night with a snow/ice storm?? You win!! We don't draw dick, but BU does!! lmao If you think I make drinks for a living, you're even dumber than I thought.

I don't think slim's comment was something funny. From what we've all been told JO was a good student. With Boston he gets a good school and a big city. Boston is a great city and if we had to lose him, I'm glad he made the choice he did. Sometimes I wish I had stayed. Oh well So do we....

Wasn't that a Monday night with a snow/ice storm?? You win!! We don't draw dick, but BU does!! lmao If you think I make drinks for a living, you're even dumber than I thought. First, it's ridiculous to think I'm questioning what Siena draws vs BU. The argument has went way over your head if that's what you believe. This has nothing to do with BU, I said the point was I believe in the MAAC that coaches, the program they run, are the biggest factors for a kid and that Siena drawing 6000 vs 1500 or 1000 may not be swaying kids in our directions. Sure it's nice for them to play in front of a large fanbase and they will compliment that, but it's a small factor. Show me historically in the MAAC how the largest fanbases have had the most success over time. How did Niagra or rider have so much success as far as winning games in the league? Were there coaches THAT much better to overcome this factor? No players just follow the coach and their program they run. Secondly, YOU asked ME about the 2500 number, I wasn't trying to shove it down your throat as being an important figure as you suggest I meant it to be. I don't remember how many were actually there that night, I was just showing that the numbers are obviously lower than announced, and a lot of times it was quite less...yes weather impacted some of those games. Again, don't think kids are deciding between A-10 and other MAAC schools (for instance) because Siena draws better than they do. And yes I know you own a bar. You probably own some other shit too. Proud of you

5700 paid. Were you at the games? Lol...it was anywhere from 2500-4500 in the seats Thats so wrong its not even close. Only time it was that low was few bad weather dates - very few games had under 5k- and yes I was at every game- very few of you guessed attendance right- opening up the end zones threw most of you for a loop. I don't know a lot of empty seats center court and at times I saw a few almost empty rows. It wasn't just the end sections opening up this yr .... half way through the season a lot of season tix holders stayed home. Attendance was definitely off!

A lame insult from you? No way It's Tulip Festival time in the big city and HJ has to show his "feminine" side for the cash carrying tulip lovers - it carried over to his response to you, LOL!

You really had to look at the end zones this vyear to get a close count on attendance. We had a lot of little people and casual fans there this season at the ends.

Right, because his, "Shut up and make me a drink" wouldn't be considered an insult. I just responded to his jabs, but I'm the sensitive one? lol

Maybe you haven't noticed, but this is a front-runner town. We lose, people don't come. UA starts winning, people start going there. It's not rocket science. And when we start winning again, guys like 90210 will in the back row with green and gold pom poms like nothing happpened.
