For those who know, your opinions and answers. If a kid gives a verbal does this prevent other schools from still trying to recruit him, is it only after a written committed that other schools cannot recruit? We have discussed transfers here, in your opinions does, and if how much do early signings commitments lend to the amount of transfers being experienced. verbal means very little... look how many football recruits switch schools on signing day after verbally to another school. These kids get bombarded until the day they sigh... One, looking for a flip and 2, if it doesn't work out, and you were their #2, you have that pathway already open. It's way worse in football than it is in basketball. It's the wild west in football recruiting before signing day. Of course you are dealing with a lot more players. As far as Huerter goes ... we should recruit him hard but there is also no need to put all the eggs in one basketball. There are a lot of good players out there. If he comes to Siena great - if not that's OK too. I think he's a good player but not a one in a generation type of player either.

They should be recruited early and hard. Siena may not be the first choice, but you want to be in there selling and letting them know that Siena is interested even if they chose to go another way. You never know that the initial experience will be and the recruits should know that Siena is an option if they want to reconsider at any point after committing elsewhere.

Tom would be a nice addition to the team and the 3 slot. I think we know why this was added. Anyhow, is this kid considered a mid-major level player or above?

Patsos will have to spend his time recruiting "daddy" not the kids. That is a much harder sell.

Hopefully this player wants to stay on this level, be a train ride away from NYC (metro north), enjoy the waterfront and be the start of a rebirth of a program. MAAC seems like a great level for this player to make a huge impact.

I've always been a proponent of making every effort to keep the best local kids. Helps attendance, etc. Easy for staff to go see them frequently. But sometimes a kid wants to get out of the area.

Kevin was just offered today by GW!!!!!!!!!! I hope he lands at D1 school where he can get a lot of minutes. The higher the D1, the harder the minutes are to come by. Nothing worse than working your tail off for 4 years and never seeing the court- just ask Brad Sheehan from Shaker how he felt sitting on Hewitt's bench for 4 years after a very hard sell. Better yet ask Brad's Dad how he felt. I'm sure Kevin will make the right decision with the help of his father.

Doug Sherman reporting tonight that the Huerter's got a call from John Belein. No official offer but then again, he is only a Junior. Can someone like Mr. Siena help me out here....would Belein have been the Canisius Coach when Tom was playing for Siena??

Beilein started at Canisius the season after Tom graduated. He was at LeMoyne before the Griffs.
