I can't believe some of the comments from people that say they were at the game. Not very athletic, can't jump that well, doesn't have a good handle with the ball. The kid was malled all game long. The number 32 on HF should have fouled out the first quarter. I don't know how three refs couldn't see the pushing and holding he did the entire game. As far as not being very athletic I have never seen Rob Poole slam a two hand dunk off of a missed shot. There was not one play run the entire game for this kid. The reason he didn't score is he passed off to his team mates as he was double and triped teamed so his team could win the game. At the end when the team needed to be settled down they did put the ball in his hands finally and he handled the pressure just fine. What I saw was a good athlete with exceptional basket sense and skills. He will be a great addition to the future of Siena Basketball.

A one game sample where he has a guy in his jock all game long does not tell us a lot. This is the same kid that dropped 30 on Albany Academy.
I'm not saying he's a star. As such, he won't be drawing any junk defenses designed to stop him once he's in the green and gold.
He has a talent for shooting. We need that talent from at least a few complimentary players.

I don't think anyone expects him to be a superstar just a quality D1 player at least to start his career. We miss a kid like Downey - tough as nails and a vocal leader on the floor. A hard hat, lunch pail guy - UA has those guys so does Manhattan - both are getting ready for selection Sunday. You definitely need those guys in addition to your stud players.

The kid is better then Downey out of HS to be honest he is better and more athletic then Poole outta HS, kid has a good skill set to start with. He needs to get stronger, that's my take. He is a Scott Knapp/Rob Poole hybrid.

A third party article says 'constant double teams'. This I believe. I'm of the mind that the other team just tried to take him out of the game and that's why he only had 11 pts, 6 boards, 7 assists, 4 blocks, and sounds like 2 steals while shooting 7-8 from the FT line with a put back jam. If Lavon put up a night like that, he'd get praise. This is one of his worst games at a lesser level. No one ever said this kid was a jet or was supposed to be a PG. The question remains, can he be our next Poole/Oliver type? Those guys aren't meant to be double/triple teamed either. As of now, LaRose needs to be a contributor. Let's give him a shot to see what he can do while being guarded by one person. He's got size. He's got a shot. Seems like he's got some toughness. Let's give the kid a chance.

7127 summed up Kinnon quite well. I commented he moved about the court like Mack of CCHS. He's money at the foul line. He looked to be tentative on defense even though he had a couple blocks. He needs to add 15-20 lbs. and get considerably stronger. At this stage K. Huerter and Platek are considerably better. And both have MUCH BETTER personnel around them. Platek was covered TWICE by a soccer player from Shen and had horrible games. How did that happen? My evaluation of LaRose last week seems spot on from this game I didn't see. He's not real athletic, but very smart. NEEDS to play with better kids that help him get good looks. Really needs to work on his quickness and balhandling, nbut when he's open, I like the chances he'll knock down deep jumpers. This is accurate. LaRose was taken out of the game by aggressive PHYSICAL D that involved denying him the ball and some doubling when he touched it. He did turn the ball over several times on the bounce. I'll say all posts here are accurate. The good is that he shot it well from the line and he didn't force the issue, smart player and he jumps well. The bad he's a bit slow to react on D and was taken out of the game by a non college type athlete playing overly aggressive. It's only a small sample 1 game. HJ might be correct he may be a different player when he isn't the focal point ... like when he plays with the CR. I just didn't see a D1 player performance last night. Maybe next game. Wish I could make next Fridays game but have prior commitments I would need to change.

Disclaimer: This in no way is an attempt to make a comparison between the two players mentioned.
I am amused by the few comments that are basing the value of a player on the basis of one game. Take Steph Curry and his game where Patsos doubled him the entire game and he was held scoreless. Terrible player right. Couldn't score against a mediocre to bad Loyola team. Clearly a D II player. I'm sure LaRose is not a bad as some here would make him out to be based on a single viewing. I didn't see the game, but from the reporting the kid seems to have a good approach not forcing and taking what is given and allowing the team to get the W. I wish LaRose the best at Siena and hope his team continues to advance.

I see where he got 2 quick fouls in the 1st quarter. So I'm sure his coach instruted him to, at all costs, not to get his 3rd. The foul trouble definitely curbed his aggressiveness.
We need to stop with the Downey comaprisons. Nothing like him, except he's white. Kinnon is quiet, not a voacl leader type. He'll lead by example. He'll be a nice piece to the success of this program moving forward. I really wanna see him next to a real/true point guard.
